MM is looking into this problem. I just had it on a new box (had to downgrade from 2003 to 2000) and the solution for me was to wait till it threw the message. Rather than hitting cancel, go to the temp dir and look for a file called cf_redsky.exe. Run this file and CF will install properly. It's a hack, but it works for now.

Are you installing from a CD or a download file? I've seen this when using 
the downloaded file, I downloaded the file again and that seemed to fix the 
problem.
