At our new hosting provider, we have CFMX7Enterprise, with a full
control panel to let you set most things up yourself. We have
MSSqlServer2005 Enterprise, and MySQL, adn .asp and .asp.net 1 and

I use CrystalTech for my sites (2). I have never had a problem with them in the
2+ years I have been with them.

CFM-Resources is closing and I need to move several sites to another host. Is
there a preferred way to move the MSSQL databases to the new host without
needing to rebuild them. And secondly, any good recommendations for affordable
cfm/mssql hosting would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Steve

On occasion, I've restored from backups made on other boxes. I don't
think this recovers users, etc. though.

I'd agree with CT as a great host.

Have you looked into DTS for the move? That's what I've used and it
works pretty well.

You'd need to bring over the master database to recover users.

I've moved SQL databases a lot of times, and what I usually do is backup the
db, restore it on the new place, and create a new user for cf to use it and
give it permissions to that db.

Having multiple problems with CT right now. Missing custom tag paths, missing
db's, missing verity collections. I've been with CT for a few years, and it
seems like since they were acquired by a larger company, things've gotten a bit
screwy. Support has gotten worse. It's cheap though!

Check out HostMySite.

Re: Hosting Help - Moving MSSQL from one host to another

2006-02-22 Thread dave
I think ct is a bunch of crack heads. According to them they offer that great
new db called mysql server 2000, nice job of training! And after over an hour
on the phone with them (not to mention the 27 minutes it took for someone to
answer at 3am), I finally concluded the answer to my very difficult question of
what server is this site running... must be sql server but they continually
told me i had no clue what I was talking about and it was in fact mysql server
2000, which of course doesn't exist.

Also, there servers are very heavily listed as spam servers and all you gotta
do is read their boards to see all the grief their customers have. And like
will said, he has things like db's dissappear and they claim it's from
cleanings but thats what brainiac gets for using access db's.

I'd go with hms
