Me too. I initially DID have problems with MDAC 2.5, when I first installed
it. I wound up using the component checker from Microsoft to uninstall it
(
see my article in Fusion Authority entitled
"What to Do When You're Having Trouble with an MDAC Installation"
http://www.fusionauthority.com/alert/index.cfm?alertid=21
)
My guess is that your installation might not have gone well. Although it
isn't made clear in the install instructions, you really need to shut down
all non-essential services on the server before installing an MDAC. As a
precaution, I would also run the component checker after the installation
just to make sure the right files made it in.
Note: component checker always seems to come up with a few "false positives"
for mismatched files. Be sure and see the docs for which ones of these are
acceptable and which aren't.
Hopefully, you don't have a need for MDAC 2.5 so that you don't have to
bother with any of this.

Eron

Just so you all know, I installed MDAC 2.5 on
my production server (cf 4.5,nt4 sp6a) and access
didn't like it one bit. I don't know if it's just my
machine or what, but I reinstalled 2.1 and everything
is happy again. The error I got was something like
ODBC Access Error (unknown)
Access loves it on mine. :)
