RE: Moving to Lucene

2005-03-17 Thread Robertson-Ravo, Neil (RX)
Hmm, Thanks Ben I will look at it.

What functionality would I lose using Lucene? Is there a matrix on the
functionality differences? My Biggest concern I have with Verity is the cost
when you really leverage it - on these fronts I cannot understand why MM
include it when the cost of a 'real' K2 server is nigh on $120,000. I mean
you only get to Index 250,000 Docs with CF Enterprise! Which is a small
amount.

Neil,

It's doable. You'll have lots less functionality, but it works. There was
even a Custom Tag on a DRK a while back that emulated cfsearch etc.
functionality but using Lucene.

RE: Moving to Lucene

2005-03-17 Thread James Holmes
Exactly - one of the things you give up with Lucene is the set of document
parsers included with Verity - if you want to index a Word Doc or PDF file,
you have to find your own text extraction parsers to feed the text to
Lucene.
