RE: Moving to Lucene
Hmm, Thanks Ben I will look at it. What functionality would I lose using Lucene? Is there a matrix on the functionality differences? My Biggest concern I have with Verity is the cost when you really leverage it - on these fronts I cannot understand why MM include it when the cost of a 'real' K2 server is nigh on $120,000. I mean you only get to Index 250,000 Docs with CF Enterprise! Which is a small amount. FYI, the CFSEARCH implementation in BlueDragon is implemented using Lucene, and includes the ability to spider web sites in addition to indexing files on disk. Exactly - one of the things you give up with Lucene is the set of document parsers included with Verity - if you want to index a Word Doc or PDF file, you have to find your own text extraction parsers to feed the text to Lucene. -Original Message- From: Calvin Ward [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, 18 March 2005 4:55 To: CF-Talk Subject: RE: Moving to Lucene Keep in mind that the BlueDragon implementation only supports English (no Language attribute), and can only search HTML and text based documents.
