I think performance is the same with either the pro or enterprise
versions. Enterprise just adds clustering, native DB drivers (this
could speed things up if you are using a high end database they
have native drivers for), and I don't know what else.

performance is fine, but there are special features in enterprise edition...
go to allaire's site to see them all (database drivers and clustering are a
few of the differences).

Are you going to get that kind of performance out of cf pro, or is
performance more of an issue with the hardware?

I for one, would like to see a single threaded version in place of the
single user version. With single threaded operations, you couldn't use it
for much more than development anyway. Much like the Developer version of

Chances are CF Express wouldn't cut it, unless you don't even use any custom
tags on this site. Otherwise CF professional would probably work, running
with an Access DB and MS Personal Web Server (free).

I wish Allaire had a cheap/free version of CF for developers to use at home
and maybe things like this. When you pay $1000+ for CF Pro you are buying
the rights to use this on a server for thousands of users, but we could
really used a scaled down LICENSE (not product) that could be used for
developers at home and maybe for showing demos, etc.

CF Studio comes with a single-user license for CF 4.5.x Enterprise Edition.
That's not free, but it's significantly cheaper than paying for the full
product.

Well you can always become a regular allaire partner

For around 500$ you get Enterprise versions of CF,
JRun, Spectra, the whole nine yards not crippled in any
way save they are for development. Pretty nice.. :)

You get a developer's edition of the CF Server when you buy Studio. It's
cheaper than buying a full-blown CF Server, but it's not free.

Ryan,

If you're using CF Studio it comes with a single user developer's
version of CF Enterprise Server. They also distribute it with other
apps, such as Dreamweaver and DW UltraDev.

Just a thought,...the single-user CF server that comes with CF studio. It's
not the cheapest alternative for multiple laptops, but it'll work.

My laptop runs with Win2K and the CF Studio single-user CF server, and I'm
content.

CF Express and PWS? Never used express, but depending on the extent of the
functionality of your app, it may be a solution, and it's free. See the
Allaire site for more details.

try CFEXPRESS (available on allaire's download site), if you don't use tags
