RE: Web Hosting Sites and CFSCHEDULE

You can use CFSchedule to hit other sites. Plus, you could DoS a box by
scheduling a task that loops from 1 to 1 billion that runs every minute.

Is it common for web hosting sites to disable CFSCHEDULE or is my
hosting company (ReadyHosting.com) just being paranoid by disabling it?
You can only schedule what's on your site anyway, so it just allows
automating a page access for convenience's sake what you can do manually
anyway. Seems stupid to disable this tag.

Re: Web Hosting Sites and CFSCHEDULE

2002-05-06 Thread Bruce Holm

But couldn't you prevent that by asking that all scheduled events pass by
the webmaster for the hosting site and have them actually create the event.
Not sure if that can be done (schedule in the Admin page but not by
CFSCHEDULE).

If the admin were involved, they could disallow any events deemed harmful.
But to outright deny any kind of scheduling seems paranoid to me.

Any other hosting sites that allow scheduled events either by CFSCHEDULE
and/or by request via the Admin page?

Bruce
