The database of posts shows a slightly different story, but Dave's still the undisputed king. :) I'd like to take this opportunity to make a crassly commercial statement, and mention that I'm available for consulting and training through Fig Leaf Software; I'm a certified advanced CF developer, and a certified Macromedia instructor. I've been working with ColdFusion since version 1.x. I'm available for short-term consulting: typically, my consulting engagements cover things like troubleshooting existing applications, load-testing, and mentoring. I can travel onsite on relatively short notice. If you're interested in attending Macromedia courses in the DC or Atlanta area, please visit our training site: http://training.figleaf.com/. If you're interested in onsite training for your company, we provide that also. Please feel free to contact me directly, if you're interested. RE: And the award goes to ....
I lurk quite a bit, but not because I'm shy :-) I've come to the realization, unfortunately, that I really do need to get work done. I'm not the greatest multi-tasker in the world. Therefore, I've cut down on my posts, especially on the community list. Anyway, a big thanks to Michael and everybody else involved for making these lists and the community as a whole a huge success. Long live ColdFusion! Mark -Original Message- From: Michael Dinowitz [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Monday, December 31, 2001 6:11 PM To: CF-Talk Subject: Re: And the award goes to I have to agree with Howie on this. Since CF-Community started up, the amount of OT posts on CF-Talk has gone wy down. There is some non-tec h discussion about the future of CF and such, but it's not the jokes, politics, marriages, etc. that occur on CF-Community. If you counted the two lists together, you'd have about another 20,000 posts. Add to that the fact that most fusebox posts have moved off the list onto the fusebox list (now on topica but for most of the last year on HoF), th e SQL, Studio, Spectra, etc. lists and you see that we've grown greatly rat her than shrunken. Yes, CFDJ has taken some people away with their list 'for people to talk to their authors' and yahoo groups has opened up a few CF lists that have do ne the same. But on the other hand, the amount of lurkers has gone up both o n the lists and on the fuseware news server. If I can convince Howie to write me a small news demon to listen to a por t and read from a DB then we'd have a news feed here as well and the lurker s would go up even more. And all this with no publicity, budget or anything else. All this due to the work of people like you. Not bad, huh? ;) Actually, I think it's a reflection on the addition of cf-community for off-topic ravings :-) Howie - Original Message - From: Tracy Bost [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: CF-Talk [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, December 31, 2001 5:01 PM Subject: Re: And the award goes to Over 40,000 post in 1999 48,000 posts in 2000 and just over 41,000 this year. a) ColdFusion IS Dying b) Its a reflection of the overall market of this year c) We know more, therefore we have less questions d) it means nothing ans: b,d __ Dedicated Windows 2000 Server PIII 800 / 256 MB RAM / 40 GB HD / 20 GB MO/XFER Instant Activation · $99/Month · Free Setup http://www.pennyhost.com/redirect.cfm?adcode=coldfusiona FAQ: http://www.thenetprofits.co.uk/coldfusion/faq Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/cf-talk@houseoffusion.com/ Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/index.cfm?sidebar=lists

Re: And the award goes to ....
I have to agree with Howie on this. I really love this list... I read it on the Fuseware mirror (NNTP rocks!) and I often look in on alt.comp.lang.coldfusion and other non-CF related newsgroups, and I'm always amazed at the low signal-to-noise ratio that CF-Talk has. I read pretty much every post, and the vast majority of them have some value to me. Thanks everyone! Kay. RE: And the award goes to ....
Is it not remotely possible that CF Knowledge distribution is growing? One more important point to bear in mind, Spectra caused an immense amount of confusion initially and as Spectra ran on CF I'll bet some Spectra generated questions spilled over onto CF Talk. In any case CF Rocks and is certainly not dying unless we have a world full of lemmings who want to go screaming over a precipice. Neo is around a corner and that promise is immense in its own right. I am certainly going to do all I can for as long as I can to propagate CF. If anything, the User Groups need more support both from users and MM. Along with CFTalk and other lists and web sites they form a crucial bedrock for the ongoing success of ColdFusion. To all and in particular here Michael, Happy New Year, thanks for the gems and invaluable assistance that permeates this list, here's to 2002. Whats really "F***in incredible." - as you so aptly put it - is that the install of Flash 5 requires "F***in" reboot of win2k pro - what a PITA. I have win2k and didn't require a reboot...but that is probably because I design in Flash 5.0, so I already have it installed.
