Just physically remove the updater JAR file and restart CF.

I'd bet that a config setting got messed up. Have you verified your
configuration files?
Have you checked all the log files?

I traced down my Exception Type: class java.lang.NullPointerException
error to the time I applied the updater. The code used to work, and is
now hosed.
