RE: Server names
We used to have Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan, Gamera, Gidan, Gidrah and so on. We now have a rather mundane naming convention. Ironically the row across from us in the data center was all kids cereal names. I never did find out what company they belonged too. 2 rows back were all the characters from south park which belonged to an adult entertainment company. emmet -Original Message- From: Kay Smoljak [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, June 28, 2005 9:02 PM To: CF-Talk Subject: Re: Server names On 6/29/05, S. RE: Server names
My machines at home are named after cheeses, I am typing this on Stilton (my laptop), then there is Parmesan, Portsalut, Ricotta and Gorgonzola. The office machines are named after Moomin characters (finnish childrens/adult book) -- Hattifnatt, Hemul, Mumin, Filifjonkan, Sniff, Pappan. I think it is a fun thing to get people to suggest a name of their on machine on the network at the office -- at home it is my wife that gets involved in it (she is a big cheese-lover). -- Hugo Ahlenius - Hugo Ahlenius E-Mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Project OfficerPhone:+46 8 230460 UNEP GRID-Arendal Fax: +46 8 230441 Stockholm Office Mobile: +46 733 467111 WWW: http://www.grida.no - |-Original Message- |From: Robertson-Ravo, Neil (RX) |[mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] |Sent: Wednesday, June 29, 2005 16:08 |To: CF-Talk |Subject: RE: Server names | |In that order? | |;-) | |-Original Message- |From: Mike Kear [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] |Sent: 29 June 2005 06:42 |To: CF-Talk |Subject: Re: Server names | |My servers are named after some of the most frustrating experiences of |my life, so I never get too complacent.
