*Ah ha* gotcha now :-)
We've stuck the relevant options in the CF jvm.config file for the moment.

Why is my server in the US ?

2009-05-08 Thread Tom Chiverton

I have a 64-bit Adobe CF8.0.1 server on a supported 64-bit Linux O/S and
SetLocale() returns 'English (US)', some other seemingly identical systems
return 'English (UK)'.
And I'd like to know why, so I can make our dev and stage systems say the same
thing :-)

http://livedocs.adobe.com/coldfusion/8/htmldocs/help.html?content=i18n_08.html#1219089

says CF picks up the default Java locale, which defaults to the system
locale.

On both the systems that say 'US' and the others that say 'UK', the system
locale appears to be correct:
# locale
LANG=en_GB.UTF-8

Neither systems are using -Duser in the CF JVM config.

Where else could this be coming from ? SuSE if it helps...

can do it will stick between reboots as a work around)? did you look at the
JDK that jrun's using?

Not that I could see.
There's nothing in the ColdFusion users account details or home directory

 look at the JDK that jrun's using?

In what way - there's nothing specific in jvm.config if that's what you mean ?

Oh, I can have every project do 'setLocale()' but that's hardly making the two
systems identical.

I looked on the CF admin's settings summary page for 'en' :-)
