Again, it's not a knock against Pete personally,
I've never even communicated with him.

I'm just not interested enough in the product to
engage in a dialogue about it... too much to do.

But am I (and Claude) the only one who finds it strange
that Pete would put up a component for sale and
put up demos that don't even utilize the component?

I may have to contact him to ask him what's up with that?

He used to be on the list and and is a well respected guy which is why i forked
out the cash for it.

My comments weren't meant as a knock either, I just found it weird that his
examples were using the component.

When I get the time to mess with them and if I still have issue's I will
contact him but I really don't feel like I "should" have to contact him for
assistance with something I bought that shouldn't be to difficult to figure out
or be better documented in the purchase. It's not like it was a fortune to pay
but still it's a pretty high price for what it does.

RE: image effects

2007-11-26 Thread Rick Faircloth
Hi, Todd...

My remarks weren't meant to be a knock on Pete as much to express
my surpise that someone with something to sell to the CF community
as a whole, wouldn't be on every major list.

I know this list is not the be all and end all of the CF community,
but, if I had something to sell, I'd at least be a subscriber and
minimal participant.

But, I won't judge his participation. He may be way too busy with
other parts of the community and just can't afford the time... (or space
in his inbox!)

Anyway, he does need some marketing guidance if he's serious about
selling that component.

I'm not really interested enough in the product to contact Pete.
He's probably aware of the issues anyway.

spent a few minutes with the component and it was quite frustrating especially
if you want to use it on more than 1 image on a page. Maybe I am just missing
something but I don't want to add 10 lines of code to do something i can do by
just adding a class to an image.

I'm sure somewhere, sometime I will find a use for these effects but at this
point it wasn't a wise $40 spent, if it was like $10 I would say it's worth it
but right now I just don't see the value.

It's funny, the images they use on their site aren't even made with the tag,
it's just an reg image lol

So far its ok, i really don't like that it seems to need to create a new image
file everytime which would lead to a maintenance nightmare. I was kinda hoping
you could just wrap the function around and image. I think for most things I
will just use js since all you need with that is to add a class to the image.

I haven't even used cfinsert or cfupdate for about 6 years.

Now, if I could just figure out how to create a CFC, I'd feel

Remember you can save the file to disk after reflections, round corners,
text overlays, borders, etc, added with cfimage. probably not a great idea
to only write to browser 100 times... and without worrying about js support
in the browser.

Regarding the foundeo package - at the preso other outputs were
demonstrated, not just the ones with screenshots on that page you linked to.
don't know if they are possible in js.

Really I would use it for reflections and rounded corners but I can do that now
with js and not sure what kind of performance hit it would take using the cfm
tag if say there were 100 images to do.

thanks for reply tho!

Hi Dave

This was presented at CFCamp in Melbourne yesterday to demonstrate the power
of cfimage, and looked very impressive.

The speaker, Adam Lehman, spoke pretty highly of it. Nothing you can't do
yourself with cfimage, but it's all bundled up and ready to go.
