A client I'm currently working with is using a flash form for the login
page, which is then processed by CF and redirected.

I assume that if there's a file input type in flash, this shouldn't be a
problem.

The key is by using the CFFLUSH tag.

CFFLUSH takes whatever is in the buffer and flushes it to the
 browsers.

Look up CFFLUSH in the documentation and you'll see what I mean.

The only problem when using CFFLUSH is the fact that you can't use
CFLOCATION after it... Kind of a headache to write the redirects in
 Javascript.

Re: uploading progress bar

2003-02-15 Thread S . Isaac Dealey
Incidentally (I realize I'm late in the thread) here's an example that
works:

http://www.turnkey.to/tapi/?doc=examples/pod

Unfortunately cfflush isn't a huge help when using cffile action=upload
for a single file because you can only flush before of after the cffile tag.
Though I supposed if you were uploading several files, you might like to
loop through them and display progress after each file.

RE: uploading progress bar

2003-02-15 Thread Andrew Golden

Does anyone know how to solve the two outstanding issues with using this as
an upload progress bar? As far as I can tell there still needs to be a way
to obtain the filesize before the upload begins to calculate a completion
percentage. And secondly, to my knowledge cffile does not return control to
the calling page until the file is completely uploaded, preventing any type
of looping to monitor file size. The CFFLUSH stuff is easy and I have used
it in the past to display an animated please wait gif. Any ideas on how
to solve these two problems? Is there some javascipt code to obtain the
filesize of the file specified in a file form field? If so, it certainly
wouldn't be that difficult to set the filesize as the value of a hidden
form field. Hm

Does anyone know how to solve the two outstanding
issues with using this as an upload progress bar?
As far as I can tell there still needs to be a way
to obtain the filesize before the upload begins to
calculate a completion percentage. And secondly,
to my knowledge cffile does not return control to
the calling page until the file is completely uploaded,
preventing any type of looping to monitor file size.

To the best of my knowledge, you won't be able to build a useful, accurate
upload progress bar within a single CFM program. The underlying problem is
simply the nature of HTTP requests and responses, as I understand it.

Re: uploading progress bar

2003-02-15 Thread Dick Applebaum
OK, I saw that!

It cost less than an XP upgrade.

Does it run all the Win desktop apps or just approximates?

If Lindows makes sense, does LOX?

I have fiddled with KDE -- quite nice, but does any 'Nix desktop
approach OS X? Does Windows?

Here's some questions I have wondered about:

Can you run Unix programs on a Linux Box?

Can you run Linux programs on a Unix box?

Really trying to get the sense of this!

RE: uploading progress bar

2003-02-14 Thread Peter Bagnato
The key is by using the CFFLUSH tag.

CFFLUSH takes whatever is in the buffer and flushes it to the browsers.

Look up CFFLUSH in the documentation and you'll see what I mean.

The only problem when using CFFLUSH is the fact that you can't use
CFLOCATION after it... Kind of a headache to write the redirects in
Javascript.
