I'd throw in if only to hear the dulcet tones of his Irish accent (esp if we can force feed him a few ales) but I think he made it clear that he was "constrained" by the "short'n'curleys" or is that NOT the case? [cfaussie] Re: Postcode search
Whoops... I should have looked at the sample site! Yeah, the QAS tool allows us to check (at the time someone tries to submit an online form) that they are putting in a genuine address. If it is not a 'real' address as far as Australia Post is concerned, they have to try again. There is a database behind it which we host here, and they send updates for it on a regular basis. The version we have is also used for our internal applications. It works a treat. Super Vision? dp. [cfaussie] Re: WebDu Who's going ?
I was planning to be there, but a little company over here called Lockheed Martin have put me in a pair of financial manacles, so I'll have to pass. For all of you who've been promising me CFEclipse beers for the last couple of years, you can do me a huge favor and take care of Rob Rohan. I pretty much twisted his arm to get him to go to webDU, now I feel like a complete turd for dropping out at the last minute and leaving him there on his own. In case you don't already know, Rob is the original founder of the CFEclipse project and has probably written more code than anyone else in the project. He's certainly done more to make CFEclipse the tool it is today than anyone else. He just doesn't make a lot of noise about it. He's one of only two or three people I've ever met who has my total respect and that's quite an achievement in itself. There are no other programmers on that list. He's also the author of Neuromancer which is an asynchronous JS library for talking to webservices. Not forgetting the other 20 or so projects for various different platforms and environments that he somehow manages to find time for. Since he's such a good mate of mine, I'd be very grateful if you can show him and his wife some aussie hospitality and make sure they enjoy themselves. the answer is here onclick=\"" + this.instance + ".getName()\">" by passing the name of the prototype instance into, or as part of the function, the click knows where its supposed to be going to do what it needs to do so in effect the onclick for the link would look like onclick="myTabs.getName()" that's the only way your going to be able to do it, otherwise it doesn't know what the hell "this" is or where the doMakeActive function is. the only way it will know is to know the instance of the prototype cause that's where the function actually is. its not a global document function as it would be if your function was just on the page somewhere Steve -Original Message- From: cfaussie@googlegroups.com [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Taco Fleur Sent: Wednesday, February 22, 2006 4:54 PM To: cfaussie@googlegroups.com Subject: [cfaussie] Re: [OT] Reference to JS object Sorry I can't see the solution in there. Me, doing the same as Darren, Wednesday morning for a workshop, back home Friday night.. and I must say.. losing an hour on the way down is a bit annoying, but the 20-30 minute trip back is like jumping on a concord or something. Hopefully this year I'll be a little less nervous on the flight coming home ay Darren. (Who might remember from last year, the plane was delayed because of storms, then the ride was a bit bumpy.). [cfaussie] Re: [OT] Reference to JS object
you cant do it like that taco if you have myListItem.onclick = "alert('hello');"; you will see the list item gets populated with the alert if you have myListItem.onclick = "alert(this);"; it uses the object, in your case the element as what "this" is, not the prototype object you cant have myListItem.onclick = alert(this); because the alrt will run when the function is run, just like whats happening with your function. with your prototype, you cant just reference "this" in your function as though it was still part of the prototype. your onclick needs to have a reference to the prototype so it knows which instance it needs to work with /// function tab() { this.instance = arguments[0]; this.tabs = new Object(); } tab.prototype.addTab = function (label, link) { this.tabs[label] = new Object(); this.tabs[label].label = label; this.tabs[label].link = link; } tab.prototype.getName = function () { alert(this.instance); } tab.prototype.writeTabs = function () { var htmlStr = ""; return htmlStr; } myTabs = new tab("myTabs"); myTabs.addTab("tab 1", "index.cfm"); myTabs.addTab("tab 2", "index.cfm"); myTabs.addTab("tab 3", "index.cfm"); myTabs.addTab("tab 4", "index.cfm"); document.write(myTabs.writeTabs()); just a quick example you need to let the onclick know what its suposed to be doing. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "cfaussie" group. That is honestly the first time I've heard of any such issue on other than OS X. I realize it may be impossible for you to recreate (not to mention likely not something you want to bother with), but just know that we would absolutely want to understand and resolve whatever issue you had, if we had information to recreate the problem. It should install and uninstall just fine and has for all but OS X customers, to my knowledge. Again, though, if you have any more on that or any other issues, do share them on the BlueDragon Interest List. I'm about to head out for 10 days vacation, totally detached for most of it, so would not want your questions to linger unresolved. I can tell you that several folks on this very list (CFAussie) are also on the BD Interest List, so you won't be the lone Aussie. :-) Charlie Arehart CTO, New Atlanta Communications, makers of BlueDragon (678) 256-5395 [EMAIL PROTECTED] www.newatlanta.com/bluedragon/ > -Original Message- > From: cfaussie@googlegroups.com > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of > Sent: Tuesday, February 21, 2006 6:02 PM > To: cfaussie > Subject: [cfaussie] Re: Q: BlueDragon > > > Hi Charlie, > > Thanks for the reply. Hi Charlie, Thanks for the reply. I figured out on my own accord what the issue was. Turns out that the uninstall - doesn't actually uninstall everything. I'm use to my hand being held by Macroer I mean Adobe when it comes to uninstalling applications. What I had found is that I had to physically remove each BlueDragon instance from the registry and then re-install. By the way not running OSX, but Windows 2003 SBS. So I got it working in the end. Hi Daryl, what you are suggesting sounds like a plan, however when I use the following syntax var thisInstance = this; myListItem.onclick = function () { thisInstance.doMakeActive( this ); } And output the dom as a string, the whole onclick event is not there, any ideas? thanks. Actually, the context of 'this' when passed to the doMakeAction method will be the DOM element. Either way, the code given will work.On 2/21/06, Gary Menzel <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: One tiny change still required... Jeremy, M@'s right. The BD Interest list really is the best place to discuss this: http://www.newatlanta.com/products/bluedragon/self_help/archive_search/index.cfm For one reason, it's staffed by our engineers and many enthusiastic customers who all love to help solve any such problems. For another, there may be some on this list who would prefer not to see any extended discussion of BlueDragon. The list is free, and very low-volume. Sign up above. Also, there is still more useful self-help info (including a search feature that searches all the interest list, our FAQs, our docs, and more), all available on this page: http://www.newatlanta.com/products/bluedragon/self_help/ Finally, as to your problem, I won't make you go to the list just to hear at least one possible answer. :-) Are you using OS X? If so, there was a problem in an older release of BD where it would not uninstall one hidden file. See this FAQ for more: http://www.newatlanta.com/c/products/bluedragon/self_help/faq/detail?faqId=263 If that's not it, please do send the question instead to the interest list. It's really in your interest (pardon the pun) to be hooked up to that list. You'll have a whole community of people ready and willing to help with any challenges. The problem is doMakeActive is a method of the object, but we don't know what the reference name to the object is untill instantiation, if I knew it before hand I could do myListItem.onclick = "ReferenceName.doMakeActive( this );" On 2/21/06, Steve Onnis <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Try this > > doAddTab:function( linkText, source ) > { >var myListItem = document.createElement( "li" ); >var myLink = document.createElement( "a" ); >var myIFrame = document.createElement( "iframe" ); >myLink.onclick = "return false;"; >myLink.innerHTML = linkText; >myLink.href = ""; >myListItem.onclick = function () { >doMakeActive( this ); >} >return this; > }, > > That is ofcourse you have the doAddTab function associated with the rest of > the object. > > Probably better to use prototypes for something like this > > > > -Original Message- > From: cfaussie@googlegroups.com [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf > Of Taco Fleur > Sent: Tuesday, February 21, 2006 10:22 PM > To: cfaussie@googlegroups.com > Subject: [cfaussie] [OT] Reference to JS object > > > I have a JS object with the following method; > > doAddTab:function( linkText, source ) > { >var myListItem = document.createElement( "li" ); >var myLink = document.createElement( "a" ); >var myIFrame = document.createElement( "iframe" ); >myLink.onclick = "return false;"; >myLink.innerHTML = linkText; >myLink.href = ""; >myListItem.onclick = "doMakeActive( this );"; > >return this; > }, > > The problem is with myListItem.onclick = "doMakeActive( this );"; > as it should really have a reference to the object itself, eg. > myListItem.onclick = "SomeObject.doMakeActive( this );"; > > But ofcourse I don't know what SomeObject is until the object is > instantiated like so; > myObject = new SomeName().init(); > > Does anyone know a way around this? > > -- > Taco Fleur - http://www.pacificfox.com.au > Web Design, Web development, Graphic Design and Complete Internet Solutions > an industry leader with commercial IT experience since 1994 . > > > > > > -- Taco Fleur - http://www.pacificfox.com.au Web Design, Web development, Graphic Design and Complete Internet Solutions an industry leader with commercial IT experience since 1994 … --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "cfaussie" group. [cfaussie] Re: [OT] Reference to JS object
Try this doAddTab:function( linkText, source ) { var myListItem = document.createElement( "li" ); var myLink = document.createElement( "a" ); var myIFrame = document.createElement( "iframe" ); myLink.onclick = "return false;"; myLink.innerHTML = linkText; myLink.href = ""; myListItem.onclick = function () { doMakeActive( this ); } return this; }, That is ofcourse you have the doAddTab function associated with the rest of the object. Probably better to use prototypes for something like this -Original Message- From: cfaussie@googlegroups.com [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Taco Fleur Sent: Tuesday, February 21, 2006 10:22 PM To: cfaussie@googlegroups.com Subject: [cfaussie] [OT] Reference to JS object I have a JS object with the following method; doAddTab:function( linkText, source ) { var myListItem = document.createElement( "li" ); var myLink = document.createElement( "a" ); var myIFrame = document.createElement( "iframe" ); myLink.onclick = "return false;"; myLink.innerHTML = linkText; myLink.href = ""; myListItem.onclick = "doMakeActive( this );"; return this; }, The problem is with myListItem.onclick = "doMakeActive( this );"; as it should really have a reference to the object itself, eg. myListItem.onclick = "SomeObject.doMakeActive( this );"; But ofcourse I don't know what SomeObject is until the object is instantiated like so; myObject = new SomeName().init(); Does anyone know a way around this? -- Taco Fleur - http://www.pacificfox.com.au Web Design, Web development, Graphic Design and Complete Internet Solutions an industry leader with commercial IT experience since 1994 . --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "cfaussie" group. [cfaussie] [OT] Reference to JS object
I have a JS object with the following method; doAddTab:function( linkText, source ) { var myListItem = document.createElement( "li" ); var myLink = document.createElement( "a" ); var myIFrame = document.createElement( "iframe" ); myLink.onclick = "return false;"; myLink.innerHTML = linkText; myLink.href = ""; myListItem.onclick = "doMakeActive( this );"; return this; }, The problem is with myListItem.onclick = "doMakeActive( this );"; as it should really have a reference to the object itself, eg. myListItem.onclick = "SomeObject.doMakeActive( this );"; But ofcourse I don't know what SomeObject is until the object is instantiated like so; myObject = new SomeName().init(); Does anyone know a way around this? -- Taco Fleur - http://www.pacificfox.com.au Web Design, Web development, Graphic Design and Complete Internet Solutions an industry leader with commercial IT experience since 1994 … --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "cfaussie" group. [cfaussie] Re: enterprise upgrade - can someone please confirm?
On 21/02/2006, at 4:44 PM, Steve Onnis wrote: > is that RRP now?? its gone up bout $600 then has it? No, that's me getting the price list very wrong (!!) - which is why I normally leave the licensing to Pam. Here are the correct (much lower) prices for CFMX7: ProductBox TLP Level R ------ --- CFMX7 Enterprise $9,991 $9,466 CFMX7 Enterprise upgrade from 6 ent$4,998 $4,733 CFMX7 Enterprise upgrade from 6 std$8,910 $8,440 CFMX7 Enterprise upgrade from 7 std$8,025 $7,600 CFMX7 Standard $2,169 $2,051 CFMX7 Standard upgrade from 6 Standard $1,087 $1,025 These prices include GST and are similar to those on Harris Technology's site. Pam did a lot of work on the new pricing - I think she said that across the board it went up slightly, but not that much. Box pricing is the basic off the shelf physical box price. TLP is the Adobe equivalent of the old Macromedia Volume Licensing Program (MVLP). Companies that were on MVLP are supposed to have received emails migrating them into the new program although a few of our customers seem to have fallen through the gaps. Generally purchases involving CF Enterprise are large enough to get you into the first level (R) - there are also S and T levels. Some teams on this list (e.g. Suncorp) are on another licensing program called CLP - if you work in government or a large organisation like Suncorp you should check with your procurement department or legal department (CLP involves a legal contract) to find out what your CLP account number is. Again, if you have any questions about licensing Pam knows a lot more than me and she's happy to help out or refer you to the right people in Adobe to sort out your licensing status - she'll be walking around at Webdu - say hi.
