[cfaussie] Re: Includes

2006-06-29 Thread Robin Hilliard

Ok, if you meant automatically have a unscoped function name
available to every line of cf code in your application (like a tag
on the custom tag path) then the answer is no, short of doing a JIT-
code generator or similar, which I would not call easy.

(Or opening up cfusion.jar, somehow reimplement
coldfusion.compiler.ASTruntimeCall and implementing your functions in
java in colfusion.runtime.MyFunctions which apart from not being
easy at all would break the EULA, and I know we all respect
intellectual property rights on this list...)

Well I finish my Centrelink project tomorrow (Friday 30 June) and - as
of next month - am a 11 year CF veteran.

See http://www.coldgen.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=Portfolio for some of
my latest work.

You are in QLD! Great as it is freezing down here!

[cfaussie] Tim Buntel back with Adobe!

2006-06-29 Thread ACTCFUG

Not sure what went wrong, perhaps Tim decided he wasn't for the
teaching role.

At any rate Tim is back with the ColdFusion team at Adobe - this time
as the senior product marketing manager!

Tim visited Australia about the time of the MX 7 launch and did a great
job at building up interest in the best version of CF yet so... Welcome
back Tim!

PS. As of Saturday(ish) I will have dedicated 11 years to CFML - mainly
the Allaire/Macromedia/Adobe line but also a bit of BlueDragon!

Yes I am feeling old!!!

Cheers!

When I
first started it was in the upgrade of the interflora website from "dbml"
(2.0)to "cfml" (3.0). I guess that was about 8 years ago.. I was only 17
back then. Time does fly. Thankfully I've kept my youthful lack of
perspective:)

Hi Carl,

We use SyncBack
(http://www.2brightsparks.com/syncback/syncback-hub.html) all over the
place, an excellent tool. A typical use is to run a CF script to dump a
DB into a spreadsheet and then FTP it off to the the side of the planet,
or the exact opposite! We actually have both of those operations running
on one clien'ts server :-) More mundanely doing automated, scheduled
backups regimes is just where it is at.

Note that copying MS SQL databases directly is not an easy task as they
are often locked. The most economic way to manage it from a backup
perspective is to schedule MS SQL to do a backup and then grab the
backup file immediately afterwards.

HTH,

Kym K
(About 3 months younger than Peter, in terms of CF at least!)

[cfaussie] Running CF on Apache and IIS

2006-06-29 Thread cfgroupie

Hi Guys,

I know that you can't run both Apache and IIS together at the same
time(unless different ports) but I'm running cf multi-server and I want
to have the ability to turn off IIS and turn on Apache and visa-versa
is there a way you can do this in CF? Have two servers configured but
only run one at a time?

Or am I too pie in the sky.

Jeremy

This is built in, just setup a maintenance plan which will backup your DB's
and save the files for X number of days.
