Hey, maybe I can use this as an excuse to force the upgrade.
Gee sorry boss, but V7 is now unavailable/unstable/unusable/
incompatible with IE7/notepad/minesweeper/Dual Core - looks like we'll
 have to upgrade after all.

[cfaussie] links breaking up in email clients

2008-02-13 Thread Taco Fleur
Hello all,

I was wondering what people do (if anything) with long URLs that email
clients seem to break up to where the user can't click them anymore?

I was thinking about inserting the long URL into the database, grab the id
and then include a short link like clickfind.com.au/l/10245/
and do a redirect on that address to the long link.

Just checking if there are any easier and better options?

Thanks

[cfaussie] Re: OT: SQL Server - preserve single quotes

2008-02-13 Thread Barry Beattie

OK, I'm guessing that the reiinstall of SQLServer has introduced a
software update with it that has finally corrected a bug within the
db software (or drivers interface), that has so far gone unnoticed by
letting the old behavior pass.

if you're already using PreserveSingleQuotes(), you'll find that
cfqueryparam makes it look like a hack in comparison (ie: using
cfqueryparam doesn't need preserveSingleQuotes)

if the code has not changed but the database has, then, what ever has
not been eliminated, however improbable, must be the answer.

[cfaussie] Re: links breaking up in email clients

2008-02-13 Thread Andrew Scott

I will agree with both replies...

If you are sending plain text then a link back to your site to do a
sort of tinyURL is the trick. Or if it is HTML then a smaller more
human readable link, maksing the url is a way to go as well.

You having a bad day Taco?
