[cfaussie] Image Enhancement 3D Software

2008-03-10 Thread bt6bstns

This was the coolest software i've seen in a while besides for
actionscripts. DVN PHOTO software ROCKS!! http://www.dvnphoto.com the
software is free right now so I told David to grab it and see what it
does. I was so impressed, it took my image and added elements to it to
image it almost look 3d. very very cool must see...

[cfaussie] Re: Costing up a VPS for CF8 - how much RAM?

2008-03-10 Thread Guennadi M

If you're considering Viruozzo VPS (or... what are they called now..
"Parallels containers") on windows, our experience running Coldfusion
inside it wasn't the best. Also, there are two more things to
consider - you'll have to manage the VPS yourself + quite likely
you'll have to provide your own CF8 license or pay extra for it.. (as
CF8 licensing is per install, not per physical CPU on the server). My
suggestion would be to call your hosting company and ask to put the
account on a less populated server (for a few extra dollars).

[cfaussie] Re: Costing up a VPS for CF8 - how much RAM?

2008-03-10 Thread Mike Kear

They feel ready to move up - they're using quite a lot of traffic for
a shared hosting site and have quite a lot of disk space for a shared
hosting site. In my opinion they dont have enough revenue from the
site to justify their own server yet, but I'm doing what i've been
asked.

I gave them some figures for a dedicated server and there was a sharp
intake of breath that sucked most of the air out of the room. After
a pause that seemed to last an age, the client asked "is there a
cheaper option?"

So while i don't thnk they're going to end up with going VPS, I dont
want to tell them they can have a system that will bite me later if
they DO decide to go with it.

[cfaussie] Re: Costing up a VPS for CF8 - how much RAM?

2008-03-10 Thread Guennadi M

You'd need to find out how many VPSs are on the server. You'll hit a
bottleneck when some other VPS on the same hardware node start abusing
resources. 512MB RAM is ok as long as there is room to burst to at
least 1GB. Normally, for the price of a 512GB Windows VPS you could
get an entry level dedicated server with 2GB RAM... What is your
primary reason going for VPS?
