[Chat] Board of Zoning Appeals
Does anyone have experience with zoning hearings at the city Board of Appeals? A friend of mine is going in to oppose the conversion of some houses on his street to multi-family (read college apartment) dwellings because they are already being rented to multiple unrelated college students against zone and are a regular disturbance to the neighborhood. I want to help him and his neighbors be prepared to make the best case against the zoning appeal. -- Rob Carlson [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://vees.net/ ___ Chat mailing list Chat@charlesvillage.info http://charlesvillage.info/mailman/listinfo/chat_charlesvillage.info

Rob, Is the property located in Charles Village? The Charles Village Civic Assn has a longstanding policy of opposing conversions to multi-units for a number of reasons, one of which is the increased demand for parking. Peter Duvall who works for the CVCBD has been involved in many of these hearings. Re: [Chat] Board of Zoning Appeals
It would not hurt to get neighbors to sign a petition opposing the conversions. And police reports on the disturbances, if available, would not hurt. But what is most important is to see whether the law allows such conversion. The last hearing that I went to (about a house on Guilford) began with the zoning board saying that it did not think that it had the power to grant the request for more apartments than were already there. Also, get information about the parking situation there; unless the houses have sufficient off-street parking, the conversions may be illegal. Steve.
