[Chat] Dispose of Hazardous Waste this weekend

2013-09-06 Thread Sharon L. Guida
Are you looking to dispose of any of the following hazardous materials?

•Oil-based paints (latex paint is not hazardous and can be thrown out normally)
•Pesticides
•Herbicides
•Car or household batteries
•Drain cleaners
•Gasoline
•Pool chemicals

These items, among many others, are all hazardous materials and they must be
disposed of properly. Dangerous to our health and/or to the environment, these
materials should not be thrown out with your normal trash.

Baltimore City will be collecting hazardous waste on Friday, September 6th, and
Saturday, September 7th. If you are looking to dispose of any of those
materials, now is your chance.

Unfortunately, certain items cannot be collected by this program including
asbestos, ammunition, fire extinguishers, industrial and medical wastes, and
radioactive materials like smoke alarms with a radioactive symbol.

Hazardous waste disposal is a service provided only to Baltimore City
residents. Residents must show proof of residency and must be able to identify
the item/s they are disposing. Additionally, businesses and private haulers
cannot use this service and must contact a certified vendor to dispose of any
hazardous wastes.

Hazardous waste drop-offs will be held:

Friday, September 6th
Saturday, September 7th
9:00am – 5:00pm
Northwest Citizens Convenience Center
2840 Sisson St
Baltimore, MD 21265

Future drop-off days:
Friday, October 4th
Saturday, October 5th
9:00am – 5:00pm
