Re: [Chat] Recycling Problems
I'm not sure that info is entirely accurate. After the city reversed its decision to require every neighborhood to put their recycling in the front several years ago, it named specific blocks in CV that had to continue to put theirs at the front because their alleys were too narrow for the larger trucks. Many were in the area mentioned, but not all. The west side of Abell, for instance (at least the 3000 block), could handle the trucks, and they routinely go down the alley. If I recall correctly, one of the neighborhood newsletters listed where each block had to put their recycling at the time the decision was made. If anyone still has that info, it would be great to make it public again, because I agree that it's a waste of city resources to have to collect from both the front and back of houses. -jon --- Linda Forlifer <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > The alleys east of Guilford and north of 30th are > narrow, not like the named alleys west of Guilford > Avenue. Re: [Chat] Recycling Problems
The alleys east of Guilford and north of 30th are narrow, not like the named alleys west of Guilford Avenue. The residents were asked to put their recycling in front of their homes because the trucks cannot negotiate the smaller alleys. The workers now spend extra time collecting from both the front and rear. There would be less spillage if they were able to collect from the front only on blocks where the alleys are too narrow for the truck. You may want to ask the recycling office if they can change the route to pick up in front of your houses on that block instead of behind. I know they mentioned that the trucks they use for recycling are too big to fit down some of the alley streets, which is why they carry the bins down to the end of the block.
