[freenet-chat] So, what's up?

2004-09-01 Thread Newsbyte
What's with the lists? There is hardly anything new on it, while I would
have expected a lot of posts due to the new quequeing thingy.

Well, I'll be the first to comment, then:

it doesn't look like it has done much to improve things.

(yes, yes; give it some more time, the network has to settle down, there are
too many old nodes still around, yadayada...)

But basically, thus, it didn't improve things. So, what's next on the
program? Surely, there is a 1130th idea for a way to make NGR work?

Or...we could finally start on the testnetwork, so we can actually have a
chance to see how the network works and why NGR doesn't. Then, maybe, we can
try systematically to correct things, instead of just haphazardly trying out
stuff.

Just an idea.

Re: [freenet-chat] Questions from a potential client writer

A rousing speech, and something I'll try to take to heart. I'm not being
 sarcastic.

But having seen http://www.eff.org/cgi/tiny?urlID=235, I think I may just try
this. Does anyone know more about this and what it would mean for a Freenet
 client developer?

That URL doesn't work for me. Is that the IAAL page?

Hmm. The current scheme blocks any web page that includes any of the below
words, correct? They'll just have to download it through an SSL proxy,
or share it internally... I'm sure there are chinese groups quite
capable of redistributing Freenet.

Which will be blocked at every transparent proxy. If we're lucky they
don't have the hardware to block within an ISP yet.
