[Chevelle-List] Hi + Question
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List Greetings Chevelle fans, from NW Indiana USA. BOY this is a busy e-list! When can I get a "digest" mode? =^] My question: My '73 Chevelle SS454 is getting re-painted. (Details later.) The problem is that the factory sunroof trim, inside and out, is in really bad shape. Who can I get this stuff from? SteeleRubber was a "no," as was the place they sent me to. No luck with other vendors in the Hemming's Rod&Performance either. Any pointers in the right direction? I picked up an old Hemmings almanac... the '99 edition is almost an inch thick. I figured to ask you-all before I start thumbing thru it. You can e-reply to me directly at [EMAIL PROTECTED] and I can summarize suggestions back to the list, if you think it would save bandwidth. Thanks all, Jesse G. [Chevelle-List] brake pedal pin clip?
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List I already looked on the Team Chevelle parts for sale pages. Does anyone have, or know where I can get the clip that holds the brake pedal pivot pin in place? It snaps onto the end of the short (1 inch?) pin, and the brake pedal hinges or pivots on this pin. I need the clip, and haven't been able to find one. While I'm at it, how about the driver's side Astro Ventilation outlet, the part that holds the ball in, and mounts to the dash. Mine hasn't faired well... and how about the kick panel pull cables... So far, I've not found any of these in the major catalogs. Re: [Chevelle-List] Best auto hobby magazines
Larry and another member, I did not renew my subscription this last time. I got very tired of the editorial smart-alec attitude, the continual use of foul language in the articles, and the overuse of scantily clad female models. I agree, I remember the magazine years ago being great. I bought one several months back and could not get past the sleazy looking models! It just ruined my total view of the magazine along with trying to get past that nasty visual lying all over the cars. Every time I looked at one of those Makeup Cakettes I kept thinking should I ask them "how much"? Dwaine 66SS

Re: [Chevelle-List] HEI Module
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List I am running MSD equipment for the whole ignition system on my 70. I used an MSD 6AL box and the module gets completely bypassed and removed from the distributor. As a bonus it has a built in rev limiter. I have mine set to 5400 RPM since the peak horsepower isn't much past there and I don't race it anyway so no need to go any higher. Also the MSD 6AL has a kill switch if you hook it up a certain way. I felt it was $170 well spent. Tom - To Unsubscribe please visit www.chevelles.net/list.html To start a new topic, send mail to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: [Chevelle-List] Best auto hobby magazines
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List Not to mention that the company(s) that sell Hot Rod are incredibly rude, unprofessional, and dishonest. They scammed me out of 3 years worth of subscriptions! After 3 calls in 2 years, I finally caught on. Here's the conversation: Him: Hi, blah blah, your subscription is about to run out. do you want to renew for $14.95. Me: Sure, $14.95 is cheap enough. H Now when does my subscription run out? Him: Soon. Me: When? Him: welll, I don't really know (yeah right). Would you like to renew? Me: Fine, it's cheap enough. The 3rd or 4th time, I actually got into a pissing match with the a-hole on the other end. He was actually yelling at me, and threatening me, and asking me "what are you going to do about it, huh? you can't find me here". He refused to connect me to a manager, then claimed he was the manager. Re: [Chevelle-List] Best auto hobby magazines
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List I've subscribed to Hot Rod since the mid-or late-60's. Like many others, I have almost all of those issues. I did not renew my subscription this last time. I got very tired of the editorial smart-alec attitude, the continual use of foul language in the articles, and the overuse of scantily clad female models. It has been the only magazine I get which I had to keep put away. If any subscriber dare complain to the editors about any of these issues, they have been ridiculed in print. When asked why I was not renewing, I told the Hot Rod staffer who called. I got no response. I had the feeling they didn't really care. Sorry to be prudish, but I expect a certain level of professionalism in a magazine which costs over $20 per year. Hot Rod has not shown any desire to meet that standard recently. I am still happy with Super Chevy, Popular Hot Rodding, and the ACES Chevelle mag. > > Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List > > > > Herb: > I liked hot rod and still get it but the issue with the women was down > outright gross. Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List Ok, I'll chime in on this thread - I've been a subscriber to Hot Rod and Car Craft since the mid '80's, Chevy High Performance since '94, Sport Rider since '97, and Playboy since '91. Much to my wife's dislike, I've still got every issue of each one! Along the way I've also subscribed to other mags too, such as Popular Hot Rodding, Super Chevy, 4 Wheel & Off Road, and Vette. Obviously I feel I have an experienced opinion regarding which magazine(s) to read... I think Hot Rod is the premiere voice as far as the auto/street machine hobby is concerned. It reaches into all aspects of our sport whether you like it or not. It keeps me up to date. Car Craft seems more taylored to the little guy on a budget, which is probably most of us. Car Craft doesn't seem to take the hobby as serious as Hot Rod, which is a nice change of pace for entertainment along with good tech articles and features. CHP, is to me, a combination of both Hot Rod and Car Craft, but obviously focused on Chevy cars. The articles and features are first rate and I always find something of interest. Sport Rider fills my need for two wheel excitement along with my bike, and Playboy, well, I read the articles, don't you? cYa- Herb Lumpp 1966 El Camino http://web.tampabay.rr.com/herbsworld/Elky/welcome.htm - To Unsubscribe please visit www.chevelles.net/list.html To start a new topic, send mail to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
