Re: [Chevelle-List] heroes
Here in Australia we watched with disbelief, thinking that we were seeing a film preview. The sentiments, amongst all walks of life, are that America is justified in seeking swift and exact revenge against those responsible including any that harbored them. Feelings are running high, even on the other side of the planet and anyone showing any approval of the events, as has been seen among some Muslims here, risks being dealt with immediately. Gas stations here are also lifting prices in rabid attempts at profiteering and drivers are getting really pissed off. People here are physically ill at the thought that a country like the USA, that has helped so many others around the planet, can be the target of such cowardly actions. Our hearts and our thoughts are with you, especially your heroes in the Police and rescue services . We are thinking of you. Re: [Chevelle-List] Chop Top
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List I've always thought the early Chevelles (64-67) would look sweet with a little hacked off the lid. I saw a picture of I think a '65 (its been awhile back but I'm sure it was yellow, it wasn't a feature article though, should have...) that had about a 2 inch chop, I thought it looked great, but thats my opinion. I just couldn't ever bring myself to hack up a car, I have problems when I need to drill holes in old cars because my idea to it is if it lasted this long in one piece why start hacking it up now? But again that is my belief, the afterwork though makes up for it all. Re: [Chevelle-List] Spit and sputter
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List Oh I have fun out of those guys though, its just a fun place to work. My more favorable thing to do is terrorize the clueless customers. A few days ago I had a guy come in and say he needed a water pump for a car, I asked him what type and he just looks at me dead serious and goes a red one (may I make note that I get this kind of stuff all day, people go "I need a thermostat for a Cheverlet" when I aske them what type they just say "Truck" not 1500, not 1/2 ton, and I basically have to play Jepordy to get an engine size out of them, so needless to say I was fed up with people that day) so I get on my computer and act like I am looking up a water pump for a red car, and I type and mash keys and smack the computer a few times. Finally I look up and shake my head and say, "I'm sorry." the guy says, "Whats wrong?" I say, "I'm all out for a red car, I've got one for a blue one though." This poor fool looks at me and says, "Well when will you get one in?" (remember he is honestly thinking that this is for his red car) And I start smiling I just told him take it easy, I was just fooling him, it turned out he had a Saturn, which I still think its funny. I know it was mean preying on anothers ignorance but you got to admitt it was funny. I have even gotten phone calls before asking if I sold video cassete head cleaners before, I mean its just nuts about how people can be at times. Re: [Chevelle-List] Frame Power Coating
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List I had my frame powdercoated, and the guy was able to get most of the inside of the frame coated. He had a 'wand', like the power sprayer you see at the self-serve car washes. The best he could do was to stick the tip of the wand inside the frame and try to get it all. He was able to get all visible areas inside, but certainly not as the frame was dipped. I'd say the guy who did mine was actually able to get more than I could've by painting. Widespread but only partial news coverage was given recently to a remarkable editorial broadcast from Toronto by Gordon Sinclair, a Canadian television commentator. What follows is the full text of his trenchant remarks as printed in the Congressional Record: "This Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as the most generous and possibly the least appreciated people on all the earth. Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy were lifted out of the debris of war by the Americans who poured in billions of dollars and forgave other billions in debts. None of these countries is today paying even the interest on its remaining debts to the United States. When France was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it was the Americans who propped it up, and their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the streets of Paris. I was there. I saw it. When earthquakes hit distant cities, it is the United States that hurries in to help. This spring, 59 American communities were flattened by tornadoes. Nobody helped. The Marshall Plan and the Truman Policy pumped billions of dollars into discouraged countries. Now newspapers in those countries are writing about the decadent, warmongering Americans. I'd like to see just one of those countries that is gloating over the erosion of the United States dollar build its own airplane. Does any other country in the world have a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo Jet, the Lockheed Tri-Star, or the Douglas DC10? If so, why don't they fly them? Why do all the International lines except Russia fly American Planes? Why does no other land on earth even consider putting a man or woman on the moon? You talk about Japanese technocracy, and you get radios. You talk about German technocracy, and you get automobiles. You talk about American technocracy, and you find men on the moon - not once, but several times - and safely home again. You talk about scandals, and the Americans put theirs right in the store window for everybody to look at . Even their draft-dodgers are not pursued and hounded. They are here on our streets, and most of them, unless they are breaking Canadian laws, are getting American dollars from ma and pa at home to spend here. When the railways of France, Germany and India were breaking down through age, it was the Americans who rebuilt them. When the Pennsylvania Railroad and the New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an old caboose. Both are still broke. I can name you 5000 times when the Americans raced to the help of other people in trouble. Can you name me even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble? I don't think there was outside help even during the San Francisco earthquake. Our neighbors have faced it alone, and I'm one Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them get kicked around. They will come out of this thing with their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled to thumb their nose at the lands that are gloating over their present troubles. I hope Canada is not one of those." Stand proud, America! Wear it proudly!! - To Unsubscribe please visit www.chevelles.net/list.html To start a new topic, send mail to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

[Chevelle-List] Frame Power Coating
I am in the process of doing a frame off restoration on my ’70 Chevelle and I have plans of getting my frame chemical dipped then power coated after I box off the frame. I was wondering if it is possible to power coat on the inside of the frame. If it is not then it would just be left with bare metal and that would be no good. I was looking at a web site yesterday where the guy was doing a frame off and it looked as though he had the frame painted black. Well in one of his pictures you could see on the inside of the frame and it was full of rust and that is definitely not what I want. Thanks for the help. Michael
