[Chevelle-List] Rack and pinion
Has another installed a aftermarket rack and pinion steering into their car. I have a ’70 Chevelle that I thinking about doing this to. A company called Speed Direct (www.speeddirect.com) in about to come out with a aftermarket bolt on called Steeroids. Also what is some of the benefits of having rack and pinion as apposed to our current type of steering. Their prices seem to range from about 1000 to 1300. However there is currently no info on the Chevelle system on their site yet. Thanks for the help. Michael

Title: Replacing Motor Mounts in '69 Malibu I just found out that the driver side motor mount is broken. It is for a 350 sb. Is there a way to change the mount without unbolting the engine from the transmission. Can I just unbolt the mounts and lift the engine enough to remove and replace the mount? Or is it easier to just take the engine out of the car? My friend said I could just jack the engine up a little from underneath but isn't the crossmember in the way? Bill Kays '69 Malibu

Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List Herb, I was at the Good Guys show in Pleasonton last week. I Contacted the Cobler in AZ though after seeing pics of your Elky. How was it dealing with them long distance? Also, approx how much did they charge overall for the work on your Elky, if you don't mind my asking? Also, also, how well does your smugglers trunk seal. I didn't see a link to your e-mail on your web site to ask you these questions earlier. http://home.mindspring.com/~keithc/index.html Now it is my turn to show off. Please go to the link above or below to see pictures of my 1971 Chevelle 2door 350 cu.in Automatic. Why this color green? The color is call Blackwatch Green Firemist. The car original was that lime green that I did not like. This keeps the car green but a better color. The green paint will look black at night, green with light and sparkle city in full sun light. This color also shows the car curves and line greatly. It take approx. 2 minutes to load page at 56k. I am working on reducing the load time All comments, GOOD or BAD are welcome Comments on the web page also welcome. [Chevelle-List] FW: American Racing Torque Thrust "D" Wheels
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List Hi, Thanks for all the replies, and I apoligize for not providing better clarification... 1) Yes, the price is $125 for all four wheels (plus shipping) 2) A couple of the wheels do have some scuff marks up around the bead area 3) I only have three of the center caps - they will need to be replaced (not worth putting on in my opinion) 4) The wheels are not painted 5) There are several holes (to attach the center caps) that will have to be re-tapped 6) The wheels are not bent 7) I do not have pix, I will try to get some soon... Thank you all for your replies/comments! RE: [Chevelle-List] American Racing Torque Thrust "D" Wheels
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List Thanks for the reply Rick. I've received more than a few inquiries, so I guess the $125 price for all four is fair. I did go to a few online stores so I know that just one of the 14" wheels cost more than the price I'm asking. By the way, I'm located in Orlando. [Chevelle-List] American Racing Torque Thrust "D" Wheels
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List Hi All, I have four used AR Torque Thrust "D" wheels that I want to sell or trade. The wheels need some restoration (paint & re-tap some threads). I was planning to put these on my Chevelle, but have since decided to keep the original ralley wheels instead. I have two 15x8.5 and two 14x7. They have the 4 3/4" bolt pattern, not sure of the back spacing. I am going to list them in the local paper for $100 - $125 if no one is interested in them outright or for trade. Anyway, does this sound like a reasonable price?
