Re: [Chevelle-List] National Chevelle Owners Association
If you looking for a National Chevelles only club... there is no better than ACES. You can see check them out on their website at http://www.chevelles.com/aces/ Too bad they don't include anything past 1972. Leaves those of us who own later models out. Maybe someday they'll broaden their horizons. Kelly C. Hanna

Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List I would think that dropping the inside half of the heater box would be easier. If I recall correctly it is 4 or 6 speed nuts on the firewall. If its a factory AC car, watch the vacuum pod. You don't want to tear off all those vacuum lines. Also if it is a factory AC car, the heater core is bolted onto the inside half of the heater box and I don't know if the screws are accessible if you remove the outer portion. Ken, NCOA is no more. It was absorbed into the Late Great Chevys quite a few months back after almost totally going under. LGC does now promote Chevelles, but other Chevrolet models as well. Re: [Chevelle-List] (no subject)
GABE, I was reading some stuff and i came across that on the 69 you have to remove the heater and the defroster and some other crap. Then on the 71 someone told me that they had to take off the fender. What all do i have to do. There is a box where the heater hoses go into. there are some screws that will take that box thing off. Will i have to mess with that? - Original Message - From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, November 30, 2001 7:17 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [Chevelle-List] (no subject) The way to take your heather core out is from the inside. Re: [Chevelle-List] HELP EMERGENCY!!!!
On my 1971 Chevelle you had to loosen up the right fender so you could remove the bottom right hand bolt that holds the heater box to the firewall. You leave this bolt out when you replace the heater core to make it easier the next time. If the heater core has been replaced before this bolt make be missing and you will be lucky. If not, I think you will have to remove most of the fender bolts so you can pull the fender out to remove the bottom right hand bolt. I tried to remove my heater core without pulling the fender...It would not work, I had to pull the fender out. Larry, Viruses are becoming a way of life with computers. You have a virus program, just keep it up to date. Never open files that have two dots in the file name. Never open files that have SCR extensions. If you see something that looks funny, just ask. Most viruses must be opened to activate. That is, Most viruses, not all. If you have any questions about computers, files or viruses, you can alway email me and I will be glad to help. RE: [Chevelle-List] Chirpping noise-A Chevelle topic
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List I do the same. Usually a half-turn, then a slow quarter-turn. You can also use oil deflector clips that clip over the rocker arms, but you usually still get oil dripping in the corners of the heads at the least. I am a big fan of the cut-out valve cover myself, since it gives you more protection from spillage than the clips. A tip: make your cut-outs with a cutting wheel or a hacksaw or something precise. Don't use something crude like a torch. Ideally you want to cut away just enough to expose the nuts on top of the rocker arms. In a perfect scenario, you could do it with a drill. Remember that the place where the oil squirts out is not far from the hole that you're making, so err on the side of safety and then open up your cut in a few spots if you have to rather than taking away too much. When you're done, save the cut-out valve covers, because you or some friend will probably end up using them again. -Original Message- I have always adjusted the rocker arms the OLD WAY. I have an old valve cover which I have cut part of the center of the top off. I put this cover on in place of the valve cover. I am assuming that you have a Hydraulic setup. You back off the rocker arms until you hear it clicking then you tighten down 1/2-1 full turn. I go 1/2 then just 1/4 more. You can do this with no cover on it, but you will get oil on the motor and exhaust. One thing you can do is to idle the car down and this will help keep some of the oil off the motor. If you do it without any cover, you need to be fast to keep as much oil off the exhaust as possible. I do not think that you can torque set the rocker arm. I have never heard it done that way. - To Unsubscribe please visit www.chevelles.net/list.html To start a new topic, send mail to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

You'll like this one. I had a chirping noise in my engine that sounded like a belt noise. I found that the power steering belt was loose so I tighten it up, but the chirping noise was still there. I got to listening and heard a lifter ticking so I re-adjusted my rocker arms and the chirp is now gone. Funny. Just thought I would share that. I wish it wasn't in the shape it was in now I would probably still be running the roads since this winter hasn't kicked in yet.
