Re: [Chevelle-List] Verona Car Show

2002-09-30 Thread Chad P.

I'll tell you after school, when I can ask my dad. It's not a huge show,
but a nice show with roads shut down cause those cars are there. its one
row of cars, with many scattered around. Don't expect a show like carlisle
or chevellebration. :-) It definitly isn't one of those shows with 10
cars, I'll have to say that there are 200 cars there, which are all
different kinds. I would love to see your 66 chevelle. the only cokestyle
chevelle there was a 66 elky. no 66 or 67's all 68 to 71. most common was
69 and 70. there was an LS-6, maybe he'll show up again. original 13,000
miles. all black, no stripes. Anyways, I'll email you details after
school, when my dad is home, cause hes the one who knows the exact
directions there. Whats your email???

RE: [Chevelle-List] Recommended sheet metal supplierIm getting

2002-09-30 Thread Chevelle 69
Title: Message

I
bought Goodmark brand name floor pans from a local major Goodmark
outlet. The Goodmark floor pans I bought were actually made in Taiwan ( why
would I feel better if they were made in the USA? ..I knowthey'd cost
more...), but the quality of the size and shape appeared to be superb. I placed
them over the top of the old floor that I have yet to cut out and it fit like a
glove as well as covered all but a few inches of the tunnel.

I can
e-mail a picture of both of the floor pans just laying on top of the old floor
if you'd like so you can see what they look like and what all they cover. Mine
is a 69 as well by the way.

it, It is very close to the Cogo's. Also, If you do not know where
Allegheny River Bd. is, just name some things around verona, and my dad will
tell you directions from there. :-) Also, I'm not sure if it is on the 5th
or the 30th. I'll try to find out, normally, we just drive by there to
check if the show is there or not. Tell me if you know where it is, and
we'll move on from there.

On my 72, its on the firewall between the dizzy and
the heater core. It got 3 wires and one is a thick

[Chevelle-List] Vent window handle for 67 Elky too

2002-09-30 Thread 396guy

John,

I think I deleted a message on this thread - are there different mounting
styles between SS and non-SS or Malibu and Elky vent windows? I need a pair
for my 67 Elky as well. Is the CHV4350 (pair) just the left (PP00186) and
right (PP00187) sides combined? Doesn't appear to be since the pair are
listed to fit only 66-67 (are these the SS handles?) where the individual
units fit 64-67 (non-SS?)

We sell them too (http://oldcarnetwork.com). Just search for Vent Window
Lock, or visit the Door Handles Hinges page.

You'll see that there are three of them. For Chevelle El Camino
 there are
two (left right side sold separately - these are the ones you need) that
fit 64-67 El Camino and the same ones also fit 1964-65 Chevelle (as Herb
pointed out). There is another that fits 66-67 Chevelle (sold in pairs).

[Chevelle-List] Water pump hose size for BBC

2002-09-30 Thread 396guy

This may sound like a silly question, but what is the standard hose size
(I.D.) for a BBC water pump? A rep from Cool Flex said that every big block
(not just Chevy) the he's seen has a 2 I.D. hose outlet. On their site,
when ordering a lower hose kit and checking the Big Block box, they come
back with a 1 3/4 on one end and a 2 reducer on the other. I just
replaced the radiator in my 67 big block car and double checked the lower
hose and it's 1 3/4 on both ends. I'm using a Summit (long) water pump
that I've had for close to 15 years now...have they changed or do I have an
odd pump?

 Hi Dale,

In a nutshell, the CHV4350 fit all the GM A-body cars for 1966 - 1967
*except* El Camino (and possibly station wagon and/or 2dr sedan,
 but I have
no evidence to support that). The PP00186/87 fit the El Camino from 1964 -
1967, and all the other GM A-body coupes for 1964 - 1965. So, for some
reason the handles changed in 66 on the coupe, but not on the El Camino.

Now that you say the hi blower speed stopped working,
that definetly is a blower motor symptom. To much

[Chevelle-List] Acrylic vs Enamel paints

2002-09-30 Thread Trooper

Have any of you guys used Acrylic paints (hobby paints like Testors) to
do detail work or for placing manufactures marks on your restorations. I
have always used Enamels but as I look through the hobby stores they are
carrying more and more colors in acrylics and fewer in Enamels. My
biggest concern is will the acrylics be durable enough. If so they would
certainly be easier to thin and clean up. Any one have an opinion who
has used both enamels and acrylics. How about some of you model guys.

RE: [Chevelle-List] Vent window handle for 67 Elky too

2002-09-30 Thread John Nasta
Hi Dale,

In a nutshell, the CHV4350 fit all the GM A-body cars for 1966 - 1967
*except* El Camino (and possibly station wagon and/or 2dr sedan, but I have
no evidence to support that). The PP00186/87 fit the El Camino from 1964 -
1967, and all the other GM A-body coupes for 1964 - 1965. So, for some
reason the handles changed in 66 on the coupe, but not on the El Camino.
