[Chevelle-List] Dic brake upgrade - new twist?
Ok, I went out and bought a set of spindles off a 94 caprice. $30 each side. How do I verify I got the right ones? Why again ..other than the rim lug nut spacing do I want to get rotors from an earlier Camaro/Firebird? If the lug bolt spacings are the only thing, couldn't I go with a rim that would fit a 5 inch pattern? ...then I could use the 94 Caprice rotors and calipers right? Also included in the Z19 option were door edge guards, under hood lamp, and luggage compartment (trunk) lamp. The remote mirrors are very hard to find and fetch a top price. I bought one off eBay awhile back, but it turned out not to be correct for Chevelle, so buyer beware. [Chevelle-List] '66 Chevelle remote mirror confirmation
Can anyone confirm whether or not a driver side door mirror was available as a remote on a '66 Chevelle SS. My '66 SS Chevelle has a standard mirror on the drivers door, but has a remote mirror knob on the drivers door panel. I believe reading some where that a remote drivers door mirror came with a "convenience package" which also featured two way / day - night rear view mirror and under hood / trunk light - can anyone confirm? RE: [Chevelle-List] Cutting front coils
I just read an article on this in Super Chevy - last month's issue with the yellow 502 BBC on the cover with Hilborn FI stacks - in the throne room this morning. The gist of it is cut 1/2 coil off at a time and put them back in to test ride height. Be careful how you tighten the a arm bolts, etc., and let them settle a bit before making your decision. Also, it's OK to use a torch as long as you know how to use one correctly - the localized heating of the coil only removes the temper where you cut. On the other hand, cutting it off with a hacksaw can't be too bad either. I'm gonna drop the rear end of my 70 about one inch and plan to cut 'em off this winter. (1 1/2" -2" max.) I know that when you do this, cutting 1/2 the desired drop off of the springs is the way to do it, but do you just measure vertically 3/4" to 1"? approx. 1/2 a coil? 3/4 coil? I did this back in the 80's to a '71 Monte and it looked great. Just cant remember exactly how much I cut. Or should I just cut a little install and check and cut as necessary? Anyone recently done this? Re: [Chevelle-List] Al Vogel's '67 El Camino
Spud, I have seen the rear bumper it is in good shape for a driver. Personally, I would have it rechromed if you were going to use it for show. I will send you pictures of the bumper off list, as well as, the list of parts for sale. Re: [Chevelle-List] Al Vogel's '67 El Camino
Hi Spud, It's been a while since I was there, but I think the bumpers were in decent shape. Sorry I can't be more sure.
