Ditto on the repro A/C bezels Herb. I have bought complete dashes at swap
meets just to get one uncracked A/C vent bezel. If the black dash strip is
in good shape and there are any accessories (headlight switch, ignition
switch, lighter, emergency flasher) it is a bonus. They can usually be had
for a reasonable price. Those small things are great trade bait and sell
pretty good on eBay too B-).

Hi Dale,

Unless things have changed, the so-called repro bezels for the dash vent
balls will not fit our older (66-67) Chevelles and El Caminos.  The
contours and shape is totally different.  When redoing my dash we tried the
repros and they weren't even close.

Darrell,

If you call The Cobbler's Shop, (480) 982-6555, you might be able to get
yours repaired.  I don't know what material they used, but they were able
to fill the cracks and holes and paint to match the dash.  They did such a
good job the bezels look like new!

  Ground Up has
~chrome~ ones in their 2002 catalog to fit 66-69 (part number IK-851) for
$18.95 each and the balls (part number IK-850) for $15 each.  I also have a 2000 OPG catalog that
shows 66/67 RIGHT for $25 so I’m wondering if there is a difference in the
left and right sides and is the ~newer~ Ground Up offering a “trim to
  fit”?

  When you
find out, please let me know.  I've been looking for a passenger side A/C
vent bezel for my '66 for a year now.  They are very brittle, easily
broken, almost impossible to fix properly, and are not (to my knowledge)
  reproduced.

  Does
anybody have a '66 A/C bezel they'd like to get rid of?   I'd pay
  good money.

I use the thermal ones. They come on when they need to (providing they are
working properly), and release at highway speeds, saving fuel and preventing
HP loss from a solid fan.

Re: [Chevelle-List] Fan Clutch

2002-11-05 Thread Richard Milkiewicz

Keith, I would go with the thermal. The non-thermal
is constant but only turns at 60 to 70% of you water pump pulley speed. How
about a bigger fan? 5 or 6 blade? You could also go with a bigger water pump.
Bigger as in more coolant being pumped. Like a Flow-Kooler. There a several
around that look stock. Nothing worse than having to worry about overheating in
traffic or on a cruise.

Well, the fan clutch off the 77 truck stopped the noise,
but now the car overheats at idle. The car will run 200 degree if you let it
sit at idle. When you get going down the road it drops to 185. I guess that I
need to go buy a new fan clutch.  I can buy a new clutch without or with
the thermal control. Without the thermal control, the fan will run all the
time. What do you think, with or without the thermal?

My 2002 (OPG) catalog list them for
$39.95  a pair. Part # BB2301. And the felt seals are $3.00 a set. It's a
discount if you buy the pair.
