RE: [Chevelle-List] Valve Cover Breather
I guess that must provide the "P" in Positive Crankcase Ventilation. Thanks for the info. I'm finding more than a few strange things about this car as it was set up by the previous owner. I'm fixing them one by one. And the oil fill tube has a cap and not a breather? This is negating the PCV system so a breather of some sort is definitely a good idea. The stock setup is to have a PCV valve in 1 valve cover and a breather tube connecting the other valve cover to the air cleaner, although you can go with a simple push-in breather or breather-style oil cap if you want. The one I need is the lower left. The lens is a little piece of plastic that rests between the actual gauge housing and the dash carrier and is not physically attached to anything. It sort of rests in the dash carrier.

[Chevelle-List] 70-72 SS Dash brake light Lens

[Chevelle-List] Instrument Cluster Questions
I am in the process of replacing the dash bezel and instrument cluster lens on my 71 Elky. As I pulled the original pieces apart I noticed a thin foam (I think) washer that seemed to isolate the metal instrument housing from the plastic bezel. My questions are...what are they, do I need them, where can I get them, or is there an alternative material that I can use? I also need two of the black bulb holders. Are they available somewhere, or do I need to visit a wrecking yard to find them. As always thanks for any information that you can share. [Chevelle-List] Authorized GM Floor Mats - reprise
Hi all, Finally! All of the Authorized GM Floor Mats are listed on our web site, with drop-downs for the color choices. No pictures yet, but at least now the ordering process is simpler. Anybody who is interested and would like to see a photo, just let me know. I'll be working on adding a ton of new photos to our site very soon. Just enter your year, and the phrase Authorized GM Floor Mats into the search box. It also helps to narrow the results if you specify your model (e.g. Chevelle, Malibu, el Camino, Cutlass, 442, Monte Carlo, GTO, Firebird, Impala, Trans Am, Grand National, Camaro, Z/28, or Nova). RE: [Chevelle-List] Valve Cover Breather
Right now, the configuration is a PCV valve on the right valve cover, and nothing on the left valve cover (no holes, breather, or filler cap). In shopping for a oil >filler cap, I noticed valve cover breathers are available as well. This is >probably a novice question, but what is a valve cover breather for, and what >advantage/disadvantage would it have over a cap? What's your current configuration? Do you have a PCV valve in 1 valve cover and a breather tube in the other? Basically the breather acts as a 2-way street; sometimes it allows air into the crankcase (PCV valve open) and other times it vents vapors to the atmosphere or to the air cleaner if it's a breather tube (PCV valve closed). Re: [Chevelle-List] Wrecked Ranger Pics
ya, the frame is bent and the front crossmember is shoved back a bunch, which twisted the a arm on the driver side.. I suppose with a new frame, front clip, rack and pinion, a arm, bed, and passenger side door, it could be fixed, but I don't know if it would be worth it, considering I can buy one just like it for 12K. You still think the 5-6 K is a good number going by what I said was wrong? If so, come get it and fix it for me!!! RE: [Chevelle-List] Suspension questions
I’ll second the Southside Machine recommendation. I’m running Southside Machine lowers with a stock sway bar on my 71 with Jegs adjustable uppers. The mounting brackets for the Southside Machine bars lower the rear of the bar about 2” which moves the instant center of your car rearward, helping weight transfer. They are also boxed which makes them very rigid. I had to slightly grind a couple of spots on the sway bar to get it to fit without binding but the holes in the Southside Machine bars are angled to make the sway bar fit up in the stock location. With the Jegs adjustable uppers I can adjust my pinion angle. After some experimenting I found that 3 degrees works best for my combination. I get no wheel hop and the car hooks good. [Chevelle-List] Oil cooler kit for sale
I have a Perma-Cool oil cooler kit that I have no use for; I bought it a number of years ago and it's sat on the shelf gathering dust ever since. It's kit #10189 and is good for engines up to 250 HP, although I don't see why it wouldn't make a difference on more powerful engines. Jeg's sells it for $88 + handling; I'd like to get $50 for it and I'll pick up the shipping charges as well. Please email me offlist at [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thanks!
