RE: [Chevelle-list] Cruisin' the Coast 2003

2003-09-03 Thread Cecil \"Steve\" Martin

Hey Bob,
 I
went to Keesler for a class a couple of years ago and happened to be there while
Cruisin the coast was going on. I think you will be surprised at how the place
has changed. I went there in the middle 80's for another reason and the place
changed drastically from the middle 80's to the late 90's. Those Casinos really
woke that sleepy town up!

When I was there they had some Cruisin oriented
stuff going on, but the biggest name entertainment going on at the casinos for
this event was Bowser from Sha Na Na.

As I understand it this event goes all the way from
Biloxi to N'oleans, so the better deals on hotels will be in one of the
smaller towns in between. I am sure the casinos will raise their room rates good
for this event.

They shut down a lot of the other AF training bases, so
they shove a lot of people into this place which usually means sleeping in old
open barracks for lower ranking enlisted guys. If you are retired AF you MAY be
able to get into Visiting Officer Quarters.

I'd be washing my car daily if I was taking one
down there. You are right smack next to the beaches on that
cruise.

Steve

at Keesler AFB in Biloxi for 3 years in the late 60's so I am looking forward to
another visit.  Friends in Mobile have made our Hotel Reservations so I

2003-09-03 Thread Tom Tomlinson
I've been looking for a '66-'67 Chevelle project car and have run across a
couple that did not have a title or any documentation of ownership. The
owners claim it's easy to get a title through various services that work
through the state of Georgia. I seem to remember discussions on this list
saying to stay away from such cars, unless they are used for parts cars.

What are the pitfalls with this "Georgia" approach? I would be registering
it eventually in NY.

Jason,
The trunk floor looks very good, with no rust. The only bad part is the bondo on the
driver's quarter panel.
If you wanted just the body after we're done stripping it (no frame, no rearend, no
interior), just the bare shell ...then we'd probably take only $200.
Unfortunately, shipping a bare body like this would be VERY expensive. I know most
auto transport companies charge about $1200 to ship a car across the country, and it
has to be a rolling chassis. We can leave it as a rolling chassis, but then we'd have
to charge more for the car. So, I guess it depends on what kind of budget you have
for this. Let me know!

It's not a link. It's a feature car in the November issue of Super Chevy

I'm not sure if it's the same Ron, but with all the flack I was catching, I
thought that is what you were referring to. This Ron runs a shop called
Ron's Restorations. Is that the one who screwed you? I am biased now, and
wouldn't take my car to anyone named Ron! ;-)

2003-09-03 Thread John Nasta
Well, the good news is that the problems never were resolved. No restitution
was ever offered, and I never even got my car cover, sway bar, or rear
bumper back because Ron simply refused to cooperate. I suppose at that point
he thought he was teaching me a lesson, and I suppose the lesson was not to
do business with Ron Miller. At least that's what I got out of it.

OK, now I'm lost. Are you all looking at the '63 Nova restored by Ron in
the October issue? I was referring to the '69 Chevelle in the new November

wouldn't even take a rice rocket to Ron for work let alone a Chevelle.
After all the problems John had, I would never give Ron my business.

The magazine SUPER CHEVY, November issue, page 40-42 has a spread on a 1969
Chevelle that is the subject of my original post about the BAD A$$ '69.
It's a beautiful car. Kinda what I'd like mine to be someday, waa

You just want to keep the heat to a minimum. Torch would be not so good.
