RE: [Chevelle-list] the waiting...
Sounds like everyone on the list made it through safely. I'm happy to hear that. I'd rather hear about the Chevelle or ELKY that got destroyed, rather than a person, but to hear that evryone, and every car made it though is outstanding! Speaking of destroying cars, did anyone see Monster Garage this Saturday? Jessie James took a perfect 71 ELKY, and turned it into a figure 8 racer. Ugh! He ended up wrecking it out on the track. It was such a beautiful car, what a shame. On a side note, we got our first snow on Saturday. RE: [Chevelle-list] Monster Garage 71 SS
I usually enjoy the show, but that episode made me sick. Jesse makes some pretty interesting stuff, and he's extremely talented, but that was just blatent disregard for a beautiful car. I kinda felt sorry for the previous owner, It would have made me sick to see my car like that. I don't think I could sell my car to Jessie for any amount of money. RE: [Chevelle-list] Monster Garage 71 SS
I like both shows. I have to admit, Jessie is OK in my book, He just went a bit over the edge on the 71. I suppose on the bright side of things, he showcased a beautiful car, at least for a short time before it was destroyed. In Jesse's defense, maybe the image of the car, before he converted it, will inspire someone to restore another one. I'm sure it brought attention to the ELKY world, even if just for a short bit. One person that did benefit from the project was the guy who bought all the used parts for $600. Sarge -Original Message- From: Chad P. RE: [Chevelle-list] Monster Garage 71 SS
I hate to come close to taking his side, but I think I have become used to him. He can be a jerk, but once you get used to him and the way he works it can be entertaining. He cut up a nice Shark Corvette as well, so he has pissed off both communities I read now! As for buying the cars, this time he went down to the Long Beach Swap Meet and bought the car, himself. For cash. As long as we sell our cars without constraints on how they will be used, it is tough to complain. Would you complain if he paid the owner $30,000 for it? I think he paid about $8,000, but it was enough to convince the owner, which is all that mattered. Also, it is hard to say how nice and cherry the Elky really was. Paint looked poor and there was some evidence of less than perfect conditions. It might have been a basket case, NOM, or even a clone. If I buy a trailer queen and drive it every day and fade the upholstery and get door dings and end up blowing the engine after five years, you still don't have your car anymore and it is still no longer what it was. Do I like to see a nice old car hacked? Nope. But if he pays for it, he should be able to do what he wants. RE: [Chevelle-list] Hydroboost assisted brakes
Thanks for the replies guys. I finished installing my hydroboost system over the weekend and after bleeding the brakes the pedal feels like I left one of the bleeders open. There's almost zero resistance when I step on the brake. I contacted the company and they said it would take very little pressure to apply the brakes and my question was a common question from their customers. I wrote back explaining the open bleeder feel and am waiting for a response.
