RE: [Chevelle-list] A big thanks
Nice choice on the ARE Outlaw I. I've had a set (15x8 & 15x7) for probably 8 years or so. First on my 67 SS then moved 'em to my 67 Elky - see dalesplace.com below. The really nice thing I like about most of the ARE line is they are clear-coated...never have to "polish" them. Clean 'em, rinse 'em off, you're done. The downside is the limited sizes available and no special order offsets. If you don't go wild with tires, they're no problem at all. I've seen a number of 66's with 15x8 on all four corners with 235x60's and they really look nice. Check this one out: http://www.okchevelle.org/memberscars/johnston.htm There are literally hundred's of different wheels out there. Go with your heart for what you think'll look good on your particular car. Re: [Chevelle-list] DIPSTICK.
i had the same problem, ended up going with a chrome aftermarket dipstick, has the bracket to bolt it to the exhaust, and if you dont like the chrome just scuff it up a bit with some fine sandpaper and paint it to match. Re: [Chevelle-list] DIPSTICK.
Small blocks do not have the same little bracket extending off them to bolt it to the manifold that the big blocks have. The only way to do it is to enlarge the hole a bit. I have the same problem with the one in the 350 that is in my 86 Cutlass. I just never pay any mind to it. Tom
RE: [Chevelle-list] DIPSTICK.
I think you really have to have the tube fastened to something, like a manifold bolt, to keep from having troubles with a wobbly tube or leaking. Mine just did not feel right until I welded the mounting tang back on and bolted it down. Jim, Mine is the stock dipstick on my 325/396, it should have a tab that one of your exhaust manifold bolts goes through and hold it in place. Rocky = A Man And His Chevelle, It's A Beautiful Thing!!
