Re:[Chevelle-list] New member
Welcome to this wonderful list Hans I think that all together we know all that is worth to know about Chevelles and Elcaminos. I am from Norway but live in Italy. Ciao André Hi folks Let me first of all introduce myself, my name is Hans Edlund, originally from Sweden, but since a couple of years located in Southern California. Just so you understand why my expressions in English is not perfect, but Im aiming for improvements and your appreciate corrections, if Im not clear enough. I signed up for this great list some weeks ago, and have been lurking in the background a little bit. Well I am not an owner of Chevelle but an El Camino from 71, and honestly its a restoration project, which I bought a while ago. It was a originally a three on the three and a 307, replaced with a 305 and a M-22 (acc to the seller). Strange combination, but there was a nice sound from the gearbox L Well it was supposed to be a rolling project, have you heard it before?? I was looking for a fiberglass clip-on front, they are available for Chevelles but not for Caminos, finally I met a guy who promised to build one for me if he could borrow the fenders. So since that weekend, its not a rolling project. I sold the 305 almost a give away, took a look at the M-22, which was a M-21. The nice sound was the need for a complete restoration .. The 350 4-bolt I had in the garage is now stroked, bored and prepared for a charger. Just need the money for a Vortech charger. The car has been moved to the body shop, and will soon be a frame off. The frame is supposed to be powder-coated and the front drum brakes will be replaced with discs. Here is my first question to you; I have bought the 2 drop spindles, should I use standard springs or also lower springs? Well honestly this is the first time I restore a car so drastically, so it will take time for me to complete it, both time and money wise. The car was in a very bad shape, so no desire to keep it original, plans will most likely change during the project J. Support and ideas are appreciated. I placed some simple pics on the web, if you like have a look in the album El Camino on www.fotki.com/eldoradoconv , its also some pics from my almost completed Eldorado. Br Hans
Re: [Chevelle-list] got myself a birthday present (one more)
then I'll get 19s otherwise I cant drive the car and it would be stupid to spend so much time and money on a car that wont be driven, right :o) ciao André If you plan to run that large a rotor, you don't have any choice. [Chevelle-list] Dome Light Wiring
Anyone know how the dome light is wired in a 69? I have one wire running to the dash. There is no connection in the dash harness for it so I figured that it must have to get spliced into the wire for the door switch. That way when the door is open, the dome light would turn on I think. Does that make sense? Thanks, JB
Re: [Chevelle-list] Dome Light Wiring
Hmm.. not off hand, but I can take a look at mine when I get home... it's mostly unmolested, and the interior is out of it so I can trace it easy. -- Shawn Price Senior Network Engineer Morrison Homes 404-427-8229 On Jul 9, 2004, at 12:50 PM, Crazy Rusty wrote: x-tad-biggerAnyone know how the dome light is wired in a 69? Re: [Chevelle-list] Dome Light Wiring
Not that things don't change from year to year, but on a '66 the dome wiring runs from the light to the LR, down behind the sail panel, into the trunk and has a connection right into the flat wiring harness that runs under the carpet to the drivers side firewall. RE: [Chevelle-list] Dome Light Wiring
Someone told me that as well off-list. I started thinking maybe it's for the courtesy lights. I am going to wait to wire it until I have my engine harness done. That way I can light it up and see what happens. I am getting a new extension harness to go from front to back, I'll check it for connections when that comes in. Re: [Chevelle-list] Dome Light Wiring
Aren't dome lights wired similar to horns? That is the circuit is hot, but open until completed by going to ground by the door jam switches? My 64's console light works but not the dome light. Have to investigate that some day! Pete Geurds Douglassville, PA
Re: [Chevelle-list] Dome Light Wiring
can't speak for 69's but GM was not quick to change a proven design.. The dome lamp is wired into the ribbon wire under the floor.. it's junction is behind the rear seat brace drivers side along with the gas tank fuel gage and the plug from the rear tail lamp harness. POP out the back seat and you'll be able to ring that circuit out.. Re: [Chevelle-list] Dome Light Wiring
Pete the doom lamp is like you said but it's a two wire deal.. on black on black with orange stripe.. it grounds through you door jam switches and the ground detent of your head lamp switch.. RE: [Chevelle-list] Dome Light Wiring
I went into the trunk (which was full of tools) and looked up behind the seat way over to the left and what do you know. A connector holding orange and white wires running up the side. Good thing to know... now I am just trying to figure out where that blue wire is going :) - JB -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Crazy Rusty Sent: Friday, July 09, 2004 11:50 AM To: 'The Chevelle Mailing List' Subject: RE: [Chevelle-list] Dome Light Wiring Someone told me that as well off-list.
