That thing is sweet! I love the SS trucks too...I think they
look real good and sound great. Does it come in just the Black color or what
color did you get? And I guess since you got a new truck, you probably dont need
Old Yeller anymore, So I will be more than happy to take her off your
handsIll even come and pick her up! lol jk. Nice truck!
:o)

[Chevelle-list] I got a new toy...

2004-07-10 Thread Herb Lumpp
While on the Power Tour, a Chevy dealer had a Joe Gibbs Silverado on display
in Fort Worth. After taking a closer look I concluded that for the money it
was a really cool truck. It's been a few weeks and I've been thinking about
it more often than I should have. I tried, but I just couldn't resist, so
today I picked one up. :) It sounds great, it's pretty damn quick, it's got
monster 4 wheel disc brakes, 20" wheels, a blown 5.3L w/ an auto, and it's
pretty damn quick (did I already say that?)! I haven't updated my web page
yet, but you can check it out here

any sugestions I might need besides couvering up everything from head to toe LOL.

I just have to say something about POR-15 Its great for around here and the life span of a gallon of it is Awesome .. I have had this gallon since my 63 nova(the grape ray had) and it is still good,   WOW ... all ya have to do is keep it sealed really well and keep it in the fridge for freshness.
thats it ... I had a little scum on the top but after getting it off it went on exellent and never peeled or went flat colored.
so off to the garage and see how it goes again.

[Chevelle-list] Will a 8.5 10 bolt hold up?

2004-07-10 Thread Luis H. Corbala
Hello guys, I have been wondering this for some time and decided to ask you guys.
I am building a 70 Chevelle but plan on using the original 8.5" 10 bolt and I would like to know your experiences with it.
The car is a 70 Chevelle (non SS of course) with a Big Block 461; Oval 781 heads, ported with 2.19/1.88 three angle valvejob; 10:1 compression with forged pistons; 270 Isky cam 221 @ .050 &108 lc.; Weiand dual plane intake and a Holley 3310 750 carb; Hooker Super Comp Headers and roller rockers.
The tranny is an M22 with a ratchet shifter and a Rammetallic six paddle disc and Long style 2800lb Ram Clutch with a steel flywheel and Lakewood bellhousing.
The rear end is the original 8.5" 10 bolt, and while I planned on replacing it with a 9", I would rather get the car going and hope the 10 bolter holds up.
A friend of mine gave me a posi unit and I plan on using a 4:10 gear (which I don't have yet, any one know of a cheap one?) and welding the tubes to the pumpkin.
I have 8.5" Centerlines with 275/60R15 BFG tires (Not Drag Radials), so I think the tires will spin before I break the rear.
I know that a rear end girdle (such as LPW or Summit) will give me more strenght, but money is hard to come in Mexico and I would rather drive it soon than waiting another year for the right parts.
Besides I have seen cars run into the 9's with 8.5"'s.
Any thoughts will be appreciated.

God Bless You!

Thanks to Ed and Wayne.
It sounds like the big PITA I thought it was.
Since mine is mostly damaged near heater box I'll probably do the glue and tape thing
and reassemble and no one will see it anyway.
