FWIW, GM Parts Direct (http://www.gmpartsdirect.com) has
the same part #12498733 for $640.50 but no listing of individual
parts.  Same price for the small block unit as well (#12497698) and
they have a picture of the small block unit (http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/part_images/124976981.jpg)

I've compared about a dozen prices between GM Parts
Direct and GM Parts Depot.  So far, GM Parts Direct is cheaper on
everything (crate motor, distributor, balancer, flex plate, serpentine kit,
bolts, gaskets, valve covers, etc.)

Larry:  Quite possible that Pace doesn't list it
on their website.  If you're getting 20% off MSRP, the serpentine kit
lists for $915.  At $641.50 from GM Parts Direct, that's a 30%
cut.

Let me know if this works.

GMParts Depot seems to have done a bit more
  homework.
  For $778 that's a steal.
If I end up having to run a Short Water Pump
setup in my '65, I will easily have that much in a stock system with
current market prices.  Especially since this has all of the
pulley's, power steering pump, water pump, A/C compressor, and
  Alternator.

I'm not sure, but I think if you go to their website, they can give
you a list of outlets in your area. I forget, it may be that you
have to email them.

Yes, Jack, we put one on my 69 after we refinished the trunk with a
couple cans of original splatter spray & put in a new trunk mat & decals
and the tire cover looks good in there & matches well.

[Chevelle-list] POR-15 Patch

2004-08-04 Thread John Nasta
Where's a good place to buy some POR-15 Patch? I want to use it on the holes
in my wheelhouses.

On a side note, it looks like there will be big changes at OCN soon. I am
negotiating with a major tool manufacturer/distributor to merge our two
businesses. They have all the stuff I haven't had so far, like a big
warehouse, a team of pickers and packers, and the ability to carry a much,
much bigger inventory. In turn, I would be taking over the management of all
of their web site issues as well as offering their tools on a retail basis.
I would be carrying all the major brands of automotive tools. It's not
definite yet, but keep your fingers crossed.

Thanks for any info about the POR patch.

Re: [Chevelle-list] carb air intake system

2004-08-04 Thread Scott Somers

Thanks, I will check into both of these. I'm gonna need it. I also find
repro under bumper air horns as replacements on the W-30 olds on ebay
(2486020815). My wrench really wants an outside air source for that engine.
One of the challenges is getting outside air without taking out the cars
high beams for a air intake. Been considering that as well. Had a guy
yesterday tell my that I'm fixing to have an interesting hood clearance
issue with the 468 engine, Edlebrock air gap manifold, Holley 750 and a 3"
K&N set with the Xtreme top. Edlebrock says the air gap is only 5/8" taller
than the Performer R-2, P-2 ( whatever ) that was on the 396 so I guess we
will wait and see. Got a spare hood hanging on the wall but I'm trying to
to scoop it. If I do the W-30 thang I just need to get the ram air air
cleaner housing and no hood repaining is needed. Still should go the Street
and Performance injection system and just forget it. Bet I have one on
there by Christmas anyway.
And a 4L60E or better if the 700r4 don't make it like some predict.
Especially if my wrench borrows the car some weekend for a 1/4 mile "test
drive". If it has a new tranny in it on teh following morning I'll know the
other one bought the farm.

Anyway, as always, thanks to you for the help. I'll keep you posted.

Scott
