Basically, yes (IMO) but actually no.  The U.s.
built Super Sport was built on the same basic body and chassis but in 66, 67
and 68 the Super Sport was a separate model from the Malibu (138xx VIN
as opposed to the Malibu (135/6xxx VIN); the same way the Malibu was a
separate model from the 300 and 300 Deluxe.  The Malibu could be had
with a 6-cyl or a V8 (283 or 327) where the Super Sport came with
the 396 engine as standard equipment.

The Super Sport (also referred to in GM literature as
the SS396 model) carried no Malibu script or badges but many state's
DMVs still classified it as a 'Malibu' or simply a
Chevelle.

Canada DID produce a Malibu SS model that was simply an
option on the Malibu and basically consisted  of the RPO A51
Sports Option (bucket seats) but did include 'Malibu SS' badging and
could be had with any engine, except maybe the 396 (not sure).  I have
photos of a 66 Malibu SS with a 230 6-cyl and a 67 Malibu SS with a 283. See
http://www.chevellestuff.com/67stuff/gallery/supersport/mel_anderson.htm for
documentation on the 67 Malibu Super Sport w/a 283 2-bbl engine and http://www.chevellestuff.com/66velle/gallery/malibu_ss.htm for
the 6-cyl Malibu SS.

Re: [Chevelle-list] BBC vs. SBC Pulleys

2004-08-18 Thread 65ss.com
Ok, I think I figured it out. The SBC pulley has a different depth.

I found two pulleys that I was told was BBC.

Here are the numbers:
Crank: 3937787
Water Pump: 3890419

Now, is it true that the long water pump pulleys are the same bbc, and sbc?

If anyone can confirm that these will fit BBC, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks
Charles

[Chevelle-list] Re Haggerty insurance

2004-08-18 Thread hansedlund
Thanks for this info. I couldnt find this info on the webpage.
Liability is th most important thing for me. Dont take me wrong, I love my car, but I
rather lose the car than have a low liablitiy IF something bad happens.

 Craig,
What are you paying and what are your limits?

I just went with Haggerty from Erie. They at first offered 20K/40K on the
Quote, I called and asked if I could upgrade to 50K/100K and they had no
problem with that. Only cost me about 6 more dollars a year to upgrade.

RE: [Chevelle-list] Off Topic: Chevy Trucks

2004-08-18 Thread Richard M. Pruett
Matt,
I owned a 64 panel and wish I had never sold it! Had a wooden floor in the
back and I got about 30 mpg with the old in line 250.
The inline sixes, 250 and 292, that Chevy used during that time were, IMO,
bulletproof and can be built to run like a scalded dog. The truck could be
worth between $500 to $1150 depending on how much the interior is intact and
how little rust there is. Check under the doors and the rear quarters for
signs of rust and/or previous repairs. These old trucks are notorious for
rust starting around/behind the rear wheels and rocker panels. If I lived
closer, I would love to take a look and consider buying out from under you
if it wouldn't be grounds for divorce; I've been cut off.

Here's some websites for your research;

Hey Guys,

Any Chevy truck guys out there? Anyone know how rare a 1967 Chevy Panel
Delivery is? I've spotted one out here in CA that appears pretty straight
and rust free, but the straight-6 is blown. Seems like a perfect candidate
for a 350.

I really want a 67-70 truck, but the panel looks cool!

Hi
Thansk a lot for idea about Haggerty. The offer I got is 150 dollar cheaper
than AAA. Thats the good part.
The bad thing is the limitation 30k on liability.

Should I have any concerns? My AAA has up to 300k.
