[Chevelle-list] FYI, metal rehab chevelle

2004-11-30 Thread mike f
I know many folks don't like this chemical strip
process but I wanted you to see what a chevelle looks
like afterwards. http://metalrehab.com/chevy.html

I have everything but the main body done this way. The
company, at that time would put on that black
catalizedprimer. I just saw the chevelle and
thought you might like to see the process and results.
Pretty cool, I guess.

13 wheels I have 14 1/4 rotors to be mounted on my chevelle, are you sure you
are
not driving around on your rotors HAHAHA

TCI part #890-374400 in the Jegs catalog is what you need its called TV Plunger
and
sleeve and I dont know what it is

Ciao

  Howdy all.

I just purchased a car with the 700R4 trans, and I've installed 13 rims and
 tires
 on it, lol.

Problem is, at highway speeds, it constantly shifts back and forth between
 3rd and
 4th gear.

Any way to override that with a switch or something so I can lock it in 4th at
 highway speeds?

 Thanks!

Dan, I have a 700R4 in my 64 Tempest. It uses a lockup
converter that is unlocked by the brake light switch. It only locks in OD. My
whole setup came from www.bowtieoverdrives.com. You might
get the info you need at their web site.

I can drive my Chevelle to our municipal airport and get gas at the Chevron
beside the runway. It is a low lead gas that floats between 105 and 112
octaneand it is $2.70 a gallon. I guess that is not bad since 87 octane at
the gas stations cost $1.97 around here (Central Arizona).

BTW, I do have hardened valve seats and I only get about 2 gallons per tank
mixed with 91 octane. I don't want to stoke the fire too much because I don't
want to burn out my engine.

Has anybody tried the octane boosters you see in the auto parts stores? I
think one is called 104 or something like that.

Must be powerful stuff. In 4 steps it changes a 2 dr hardtop
chevelle into 2 dr post 53 body style. Wonder what it will do to a 4
dr ford?Can I hope for a GT40?

Actually looks good. Is that your chevelle? Are they able to
prime the hidden inaccessible areas? I may investigate for my
camaro.

[Chevelle-list] High Octane Aviation Gas.

2004-11-30 Thread Todd Gatesh

I am a pilot. I know that the aviation industry was grandfathered in for
the lead containing gasoline when America went unleaded. As far as I know,
av-gas is the only readily available mass produced fuel still containing
lead. I buy av-gas all of the time for the planes I fly. I do believe
that dispensing the av-gas directly into an owner's car is illegal. I'm
not saying that this doesn't go on all of the time. Does anyone know if
this is in fact true? Is it illegal to dispense leaded gas from an airport
vendor into a car? The reason I ask is that few airports will sell the gas
and dispense it into a car but most will sell if it is going into a
container.

Also, on a similar topic. Most people now days don't realize that pure
gasoline, like av-gas, has a beautiful pure almost sweet smell. And if you
get it on your hands it almost immediately evaporates leaving no residual
smell or oily feeling. The chemical brew that they call automotive gas
they sell for cars has become so darn nasty. They shouldn't call it gas
anymore. Just call it car fuel.

Hi a little more on the AV GAS.Yes it is illegal to pump it directly into a car,At least in PA.Most times you have to pump it into a steel container so it can be grounded between the supply tank and the can.But I love the smell, none better.Mike Herr in Limerick,PA
