Hi Krister,
I am a member of G (Greater Chicago Classic Chevy Club). Our club
judges all of the Skip's Reunion car shows. If you want to send me info
once you have it all together I will present it at our club meeting if you
would like attendance from some of our club members.
Or if you go to Skip's shows, stop by and talk directly to the club
yourself. IF interested we are always open to new membership. I have a
1970 Malibu that of course is a on going project. It is in the shop right
now having some body work done, and a new paint job. A fairly large group
from our club are going to caravan to the 30th Great North Central
Memorial
Day Classic show in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Our club hosted it last year
and
had 135 cars even with it raining most of the weekend. 1000 point fun
show.
Let me know.

I am looking for feed back on car shows and car show prizes. Our church
has a Community Block Party each fall and we added to it a car show last
year. I am again coordinating this years show - it takes a lot of time,
but it's fun.
1st What makes a good car show for you?
2nd Give me feedback on what we did:
My approach was to make it fun and not the typical 1000 pt show. Free (no
admission) Car Show was on a Saturday 11am - 4pm. Free pancake Breakfast
8am - 10pm. Free goody bag for each car. Free raffle for 2 sets of free
tickets to local auto museum. Free raffle for Eastwood tool catalog $25
gift certificate. We had 12 fun judging categories: Pastor's Choice,
Most
Chrome Under The Hood, Favorite Paint, Favorite Interior, Favorite Grille,
Most Unique, Favorite Hood Ornament, Looks The Fastest, Wish You Had It In
High-school, Best Display of Era or Theme and Favorite License Plate. I
had one car lover, who is not a classic car owner, do all the judging.
During the show I played '50s style / Beach Boys type music. Also
throughout the show I used the PA to ask automotive trivia questions and
awarded free Baskin Robins certificates for correct answers. For the 12
categories prizes I gave out 1st choice and 2nd choice. Prizes were in
the
form of automotive merchandise $20 - $30 values.

Last year it was on Labor Day Weekend - many would be attenders were out
of
town. Still we had 44 cars turn out.

This year it's the 2nd week in September and I am thinking about adding a
Free Lunch to two people per car and adding a dash plaques to go with the
goody bags.
Thank you for your input!

Krister, our local show (30-50 cars and bikes), always votes on the crowd
favorite with a dash plaque with that on it for the winner. It always seems
to be a favorite as it allows audience participation, wether you have a car
in it or not. We hold it in conjunction with the local fall festival, and
last year, in a community of 200 people, we had over 3,000 people show up
with 2,000 votes for the favorite. The vote money goes toward our liability
insurance for the year (We have a small community center which is a closed
elementary school that we use year round.) This year is the 24th year for
us and the car show seems the be the biggest draw. We always have a lot of
fun.

That sounds like a show I'd like to go to, too bad you're in Ill. The dash
plaques are a good idea, one of the folks in our local club found out that
you will get more repeat business (car entries) the next year since some
folks kinda collect the plaques and they'll come back for the plaque. I
like your categories, but I'd add one or two for participant judging in
some category (Participants choice, something like that). Give the
entrants a ballot, that way they'll be certain to look over each others'
cars.

Free breakfast AND lunch??? Man ya'll are to good!! :-))

I thought this was a scam myself, But two weeks after receiving this
e-mail and forwarding it on. Microsoft contacted me for my address and
within days,
I received a check for $24,800.00. You need to respond before the beta
testing is over. If anyone can affoard this, Bill gates is the man.
It's all marketing expense to him. Please forward this to as many people
As possible. You are bound to get at least $10,000.00. We're not going

For our time. My brother's girlfriend got in on this a few months ago.
When

Like I said before, I know the law, and this is for real.

RE: [Chevelle-list] Car Show / Prizes

2005-03-17 Thread Herb Lumpp
1st question: A good car show to me includes being able to do something with
the cars other than just park and look at them, i.e. drag races, autocross
course, poker run, etc.

2nd question: If the venue won't/can't accomodate the above, everything you
described below would still make a good car show for me.

Subject: [Chevelle-list] Car Show / Prizes

We had 12 fun judging categories: Pastor's Choice, Most
Chrome Under The Hood, Favorite Paint, Favorite Interior, Favorite Grille,
Most Unique, Favorite Hood Ornament, Looks The Fastest, Wish You Had It In
High-school, Best Display of Era or Theme and Favorite License Plate. I
had one car lover, who is not a classic car owner, do all the judging.
During the show I played '50s style / Beach Boys type music. Also
throughout the show I used the PA to ask automotive trivia questions and
awarded free Baskin Robins certificates for correct answers. For the 12
categories prizes I gave out 1st choice and 2nd choice. Prizes were in the
form of automotive merchandise $20 - $30 values.

Last year it was on Labor Day Weekend - many would be attenders were out of
town. Still we had 44 cars turn out.

This year it's the 2nd week in September and I am thinking about adding a
Free Lunch to two people per car and adding a dash plaques to go with the
goody bags.

Thank you for your input!

[Chevelle-list] Car Show / Prizes

2005-03-17 Thread Krister Meister

That's right. The buttons were moved to the center in 69.

For 66-68, there
were left and right bucket seats and the seat back release buttons were on either
side. The buttons being on opposite sides is probably the only difference
between left and right. For 1969-72 there was no distinction between right or
left bucket seats and the release button was in the middle. If 1966 seats will correctly
fit a 1968 car, then I think it's safe to say that any 1966-72 A-body bucket seats
will physically fit any 1964-72 A-body car. It's just a matter of where the
release buttons end up, and whether or not you care about having the correct
upholstery color/pattern for the year of your car.

Sounds like you didn't really need to buy the 1967 seats if you already had 1966 seats. Either one will physically fit, but keep in mind that the upholstery won't be the right pattern for 1968.

1966, 67, and 68 used the same bucket seat frames. AFAIK, the
upholstery from a 66 bucket seat should fit a 68 bucket seat.

RE: [Chevelle-list] things I would like to buy at the MCC show..

2005-03-17 Thread John Nasta
Thanks guys. I really want to make it this year, especially since the EC is
fully up and running.

Right now I have a seat from a 4dr in there, and the only way to get to the
storage area is to move the whole seat forward. Forget about getting a spare
tire in and out of there. That's one of the reasons I want the right seat.
Oh, by the way, I also need to buy a standard 14" steel wheel to put a spare
tire on if anybody has one of those lying around.

Thanks,
John Nasta

Check back with me closer to the show but I think my
parents may have an extra that they would be willing
to get rid of. I will try and get pictures of it if
they do.
