[Chevelle-list] OT: Cutlass and C-10 For Sale

2006-07-18 Thread Larry Shouse

Guys, I know it's off topic, but I thought some of
you may be interested. In my town here in central Florida, a guy is selling both
a 1970 C-10 pickup truck and a 1972 Cutlass. Here's the pictures.

I guess all good things must come to an end. It pains me greatly but my car
is for sale. Price is $15K but will consider late-model driver trades. I'll
be putting together a tech sheet listing all the mods and extra parts
included,later.

Re: [Chevelle-list] Muncie linkage.

2006-07-18 Thread Trooper

Dennis,
The Muncie shifter linkage was real junk. Most guys changed them out
shortly after buying their car. Unless your looking for a 100 percent
correct restoration I would go with a Hurst shifter for your Muncie
transmission. If you want the correct look in the car you can adapt the
Muncie shifter handle to the Hurst linkage.

I've seen some Muncie 4 speed shifters for sale on ebay. Most of them are
missing the linkage.Does anybody know where you can buy the linkage for
these old shifters? I want to change out my turbo 400 for a 4 speed Muncie
on my 68. Anything special a guy should watch out for? Thanks for any info
ahead of time...Dennis

Re: [Chevelle-list] Steering Ratio

2006-07-18 Thread Rick Schaefer
I have the Monte Carlo pump on my 72.  Feel & response
are just about right for a driver.    But, the box does
slightly limit the turning radius.  Its more annoying than a real
problem . Jim Shea @ Chevelle tech recommends a
box from a 93 - 98 (or so) Jeep Grand Cherokee for a daily driver
veicle .   The road feel is good and the turning radius more
closely matches the original - 72 anyway.   BTW - Jim
is  a retired GM suspension engineer and he has several web pages
devoted to steering stuff.   Do a search over there for
detailed info.On 7/16/06, [EMAIL PROTECTED] <[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Impala SS will have a 12.7:1 ratio as well. I'm rebuilding one now, soI can't say of the effect, but the general consensus seems to be thatit's the best ratio! You could upgrade to a metric pump at the same
time, ie, if you're in the wrecking yard. You'll also want to upgrade your power steering pump for greater flowand pressure at the same time. This involved swapping a fitting for onewith a larger orifice, a shorter spring to adjust minimum pressure, and
shortening the flow valve.  This page shows a comparison of a few pumpsand their interiors, and has part numbers for the ugrades.http://jeffd.50megs.com/Pump_valve_mod_page.htm
I pulled the pump from the cop car, and the fitting and valve need noimprovement. Just the spring is different. I also pulled a pump from a90s truck, and it was the same - just needed the spring. Take a fluid
wrench and 1" socket to the yard and see what you can assemble fromwhat's there if you need to do it on the cheap.Hope this helps,Dave. On Jul 15, 2006, at 4:13 PM,

Re: [Chevelle-list] 64-65 dash A/C vent question for the experts

2006-07-18 Thread John Nasta

Thanks Larry,

That is in keeping with what the customer says. It would be great if
you could check one or two more. I have been told that there actually
were 2 different sizes in 1964 but for 1965 they should all be the
same. I wonder if there might have been some early 1965s using the
1964 dash outlet.

Quoting [EMAIL PROTECTED]:

John:
I measured the one in my "original still in the car" dash and I got 5 inches
x 1 inch. I have another out of the car and can measure it tomorrow night .
Both are 65 Chevelle A/C dashes .I may even have 2 or three more
stored away.
