Re: [Chevelle-list] 283/327 generator p/s brackets

2006-08-24 Thread Bow Tie
Dale, I asked this same question this past winter. I found what I needed at OPG. The spacer I had to make. Everything fit perfectly. (surprise). The alt. brace I found at a swap meet. It's not correct for a '66 but it works. The correct bracketI found at NPD. I don't remember why I couldn't use it. I think it was the intake. I have a high rise from the Winters foundry and I think the manifold bolt wouldn't bolt up without interference. I'm sure you can get everything at NPD. I only went to OPG because I had points I had to use up.Dale [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: For 1967 327: I’m going back to stock exhaust manifolds and I need the lower generator bracket (bolts to exhaust manifold) #3878256, power steering brace (also bolts to exhaust manifold, not the lower one to the block) #3878257 (and spacer if you might have it #3718608), and upper generator brace that bolts to intake water pump #3888104. Does not have to be ‘show quality’ but not broken either. All brackets and braces fit both years, 66 67, and both small block engines, 283 327.Appreciate any leads – can pay via PayPal if agreeable price. Never ceases to
amaze me when someone builds a tribute car like this they detail
the undercarriage with stickers and such, use the correct tower
clamps, a repro R95 battery, etc. and totally ignores obvious items like
Edelbrock intake/Quadrajet, a Mr. Gasket chrome water neck, copper tubing to
rubber hose fuel line, 427 badging on the grille, SS emblems on the doors, a
mass-rebuilt Jasper 454 engine with 427/425 stickers, etal and then makes
statements like Daytona Yellow (a Yenko color).

Very pretty car
and appears to be well done but if youre going to pay tribute to a
legend, try to get the obvious things you can see correct. Looks like a
nice Chevelle and the Yenko tribute was an afterthought.

Dale, that is exactly what I was thinking when I
posted the link!
The car still appears to be a (fairly) good deal
(if it is as it appears). You just have to ask yourselfWhy?

My thoughts exactly. The details are what make the difference
between a $15K~$20K car and a $30~$35K car.

It does look very nice, but the only piece that seems
out of place in this "nicest" Yenko replica is the cheap exhaust. It looks
to me like a job by the local muffler shop, and a few years ago by the looks of
those clamps and Flowmasters. For a car that is supposed to be that great,
I would have expected the mufflers to be lines up flat and cleanly, and maybe
even be stainless or at least cleaner.

The car may be perfect otherwise, or perhaps there are
other hidden shortcuts and the exhaust system is just the
clue.

I personally would not buy it because it is too
clean. I want a car I can drive and not care if I mess up some original
marking or sticker. If I saw it a show, I would admire it as it does look
great.

A guy who buys and sells at auctions told me about 6
months ago, as long as I was doing the frame off on my '69, I should do a Yenko
replica. They always bring more oney. He bought one in
NYandauctioned it off in Fla. that brought$50k +.

Got me thinking, because I'll never get close to my money
out of my Malibu.
My excuse is, mine is a labor of

I'm in the process
of restoring a 1970 Chevelle SS. I have found everything so far except the
engine. Iam searching for a 1970 LS6.
If anyone knows
someone who iswilling to sell one or if anyone knows whereI can get
one,I would greatly appreciate this
info.As
stated above I
already have the rear end andthe M22 Transmission. I'm performing a frame
off restoration and am looking aheadso
that I can have the
engine when I'm ready for it. Any help would be appreciated.

It is a beautiful car but the exhaust system was the first thing I noticed too.
I have been the victim of a lousey muffler job that I am still running after
about 3 years. Every time I look at it I want to rip it all out and start over
again but I hate to spend the money (again). Maybe next year.

2006-08-24 Thread Devin

I'd have to agree that it's a nice car barring the
exhaust, but a Yenko copy? The first thing that struck me was that it has
a 454, not a 427. Who knows what's inside it. The rest is all
badging. Is it worth the asking price? Maybe, to the right
person. Am I remembering correclty that the 69 Yenko Chevelles were also
all 4 speeds?
