Re: [Chevelle-list] Whats up with the gas?
Diesel Fuellol but not really funny. My dad filled up my race gas jug with diesel once. Even filled my tank before I went for a cruise to the track. Needless to say I didn't make it to the track. Car was blowing smoke rings as I limped back into the garage. Hi! Sometimes when I fill my cars with gas the gas smells strange! It doesen't smell like old fashioned ordinary gas, instead it has a foul tar:ish smokey smell like burnt Bakelite/Phenol. How come? Pelle I haven't noticed anything unusual with Texas gas ( except price rise for no apparent reason). Possibly you are smelling an additive that is particular to your area. [Chevelle-list] Another public service announcement
Police Warning For Men Police are warning all men who frequent clubs, parties and local pubs to be alert and stay cautious when offered a drink from any woman. Many females use a date rape drug on the market called "Beer." The drug is found in liquid form and is available anywhere. It comes in bottles, cans, or from taps and in large "kegs". Beer is used by female sexual predators, at parties, and bars to persuade their male victims to go home and sleep with them. A woman needs only to get a guy to consume a few units of Beer and then simply ask him home for no strings attached sex. Men are rendered helpless against this approach. After several beers, men will often succumb to the desires to sleep with horrific looking women whom they would never normally be attracted. After drinking beer, men often awaken with only hazy memories of exactly what happened to them the night before, often with just a vague feeling that "something bad" occurred. At other times these unfortunate men are swindled out of their life's savings, in a familiar scam known as "a relationship." In extreme cases, the female may even be shrewd enough to entrap the unsuspecting male into a longer-term form of servitude and punishment referred to as "marriage." Men are much more susceptible to this scam after beer is administered and sex is offered by the predatory females. Please! Forward this warning to every male you know. If you fall victim to this "Beer" scam and the women administering it, there are male support groups where you can discuss the details of your shocking encounter with similarly victimized men. For the support group nearest you, just look up Golf Courses" in the phone book.

[Chevelle-list] Valve Springs
Here's one for the engine guys...I'm doing a cam change on my small block and am replacing the springs as well...The springs that I have taken off had shims under them,I imagine to maintain the proper height.Now...Do I need to use these shims with the new springs or can they go directly on the head(I think it is called the seat)..The new springs are the same height as the old ones when the old ones had the shims John 66 Malibu SS(canadian version)

Re: [Chevelle-list] Missing body mounts Buying body mount kit
Jim H. Thompson wrote: There maybe as many as fourteen locations but most hardtops only use ten and two of those might be rubber biscuits (no bolts). Two radiator support, Two firewall, two mid body (maybe biscuits), two before rear wheels, Two on rear cross member (conv. Only), two behind rear wheels, and two back frame rail on tabs. This appears to be correct for my 65. So now I'm going to replace mine as well. Any recommendations as to where to buy them? I'm looking at Ausleys. Anyone know of a good deal? The old one's were a bit rusted but they came out. There are five per side not counting the radiator support. The back two on each side had smaller mounting bolts. -Chuck Kranz San Jose, CA 65 Malibu 327 4 speed At least that is lessening the possibility that the body mounts are rusted solid -- if they are falling out on the road. It is a lifetime California car, so who knows? Might be an easier disassembly then I thought (that is my glass half-full approach to this...) TJ Ringlein 72 Chevelle Clovis California US Air Force
