It's the part that bolts to the exterior of the back of the block with a long skinny bolt thru a hole in the top. I'm hoping the one you have is for a 4 bbl. and comes straight out towards the bakc of the carb and not the 2 bbl. as it is bigger and curves around and goes in the side of the carb. John/Johnny Palmer, do you still have the down draft tube cover that mounts on top of block and has a long skinny bolt that goes thru a hole in the top to hold it down and would you be willing to part with it? Thank for the responses and they give me a good idea of options when it comes to rebuilding. My hope is that it does not call for a rebore and basic wall clean up will be all it needs. As far as engine condition. I have not done a leak test, but plan on doing a compression on it myself. I can tell the intake and timing cover have been off by previous owners by the ultra blue gasket ooz. It runs rich and carbons the plugs, but blame this on the 750 Holley on it and have leaned it out as much as possible. Replacing it with a rebuilt correct 580 Holley. Blows some smoke when I get on it. PCV system working fine. Not all machine shop will be able to perform this procedure, however. What is the condition of your engine now? Are you sure it needs to be bored?
