Re: [Chevelle-list] Automotive Lift

Hi Larry...

I built a new garage a few years ago and installed a Back Yard Buddy four post
lift.? Lift is great, works well.? You will need 11'?- 12" ceiling clearance.?
Not sure if I would do a four post again.? Might have more flexibility with a
two post.? Don't know where you live but I live in cold country so I installed
in floor heat?driven by a boiler system and that is great for the winter.? Can
keep the temp at 55-60 and it is comfortable.

Good luck,

Jerry Wells

Harlan,
I've seen both but I will say I always kept a spare module in my ash
tray as I seemed to burn them every yr or two before eliminating it with an
MSD 6AL. I kept a spare coil on hand as well but don't remember having a
factory one leave me stranded. My first thought would be module. Local
parts store can test it for you as well as coil.

was running fine the other day, and today it will not start, the engine is a
454 1973 mostly stock, it turns over but will not sputter or start, checked
for fuel, it looks ok, i hooked up a spark checker at 30 thousands and saw
no spark while cranking, changed to 20 and still did not see anything, it is
a HEI, and i checked and have 12V at the Batt term on the dist
dist module? coil?
thanks!!

I just had a MSD coil fail right out of the box. You can test it with a volt
meter or take it to auto zone they will test for free.

Could be either or Autozone or most any other of the National Chains
can bench check your module. It will need to come out of the distributor,
but the test is reasonably accurate. If you are not getting any spark, it
should be easy to detect a bad module. And you can check continuity of the
coil with a meter. Again if it is the culprit it should be obvious.

Build your building with 12' walls.? My dad's garage has 10' walls and you
cannot take his four post lift all the way up (with a vehicle on it.)
