[Chevelle-list] Surging HELP!!

I was playing with my Beaumont Thursday from a stop light. After it started 
surging will idle fine but if I hold at 1500rpm it surges 3000 to nothing back 
and forth. I think it must be carb. I did change fuel filter and pump but no 
change.

Is carb problem ease fix?

I was going to change carb and I already have one here, but when I checked 
numbers it is a 17080212. 1980 454 BB. Can I still use it on my 350?

Check the speed pump in the carb. may be the cause.  I would not go to a bigger 
engine carb. The metering will be out of wack.
