RE: [Chevelle-list] Starter issues ...
Just a guess here, but I had the same problem last summer. After rewiring the entire starting system, it turned out to be the actual connection at the battery post. (positive side on mine) Any way, try replacing the posts, and the terminal connections. Total cost will be about $1.50. It's a simple project, and typically it can't hurt. It's not something that gets done very often, and most older cars can use them. So I decided to take a "brake" from the Wilwood front-disc install to finish up on the new wiring kit. However, there seems to be an issue with my starter. When I turn the key to the Start, it ingages the starter but doesn't turn nor re-tract it back in - making a click only. Turning the key back to Off and then to Start just makes the click ... So, what could this be? A bad starter? Bad connection? Bad ground? I know it could be a shot in the dark, but thought I would ask you all. I guess I will take it out to get tested. -Graham 67 Chevelle SS
RE: [Chevelle-list] Stripping Paint - 67 Chevelle
Save yourself some money, and just grab up about 10 bottles of DOT 3 brake fluid. I discovered that it removes paint rather well. One of my buddies spilled some on his fender, and left it there for a while. Apparently he didn't know it was caustic. Now he has a nice sheet metal spot on the driver side. Glad it wasn't my ride! I am in the LA Calif area. RE: [Chevelle-list] new Chevelle mag on news stands
Special edition. I think it comes out 3 times a year, and is a recap of all the Chevelle stuff from that specific timeframe. RE: [Chevelle-list] Garage heater
Yep, the old fashioned looking deal. My garage is pretty small, though. It's only a one car garage, but it doesn't seal very well around the door, and winters up here get pretty cold. I'm completely impressed with it. I bought it at a hardware supplier up here, I'm not sure of the exact model, but I bought the highest heat output version I could find. Since I leave it on 24/7, I went with this style heater, for the safety reasons, plus, I don't pay electricity, and the propane/kerosene style heaters would cost me more in the long run, just paying for fuel. I have an electric oil heater in my garage. It works great even in the cold Alaskan nights. $50.00 and worth every penny!
