[Chevelle-List] SF bay area restorations
Has anyone had a '70-ish chevelle/Elky restored with good results in the San Francisco bay area ? I'm considering having my '70 Elky "done" for me, as work is really a better thing for me to spend more time on (and my '73 Nova is being worked on by myself also). tnx in advance, John

You can see check them out on their website at http://www.chevelles.com/aces/ Too bad they don't include anything past 1972. Leaves those of us who own later models out. Maybe someday they'll broaden their horizons. Kelly C. Hanna

It was absorbed into the Late Great Chevys quite a few months back after almost totally going under. LGC does now promote Chevelles, but other Chevrolet models as well. RE: [Chevelle-List] Driven Daily Drivers
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List I drive my '70 Elky ~ 30 miles total each day when it's cold or rainy here in San Jose. Wouldn't want to be driving it in snow though w/the 295/50's on the back :-) John -Original Message- From: Kelly C. I drive my '66 El Camino at least 30 miles every day to work and back. Many days I'll go to lunch, firewood and camping trips on weekends, soccer practice for the kids, etc. I figure an average of 1500 miles a month. Not a huge number but as anyone here knows, you don't always drive them like a '98 Neon (as in they beg to be flogged now and then). And you need to lift the hood or crawl under 30 to 35 year old cars that are drive regularly. You acquire lots of war stories. I've got more than a few. So who drives their Chevelle or Elky the most ??? 1500 miles/month. Do I hear 2000? I put about 4000 on mine in the last two months, but we were moving back here to Dallas from East Texas, so I was running the road regularly. I drive mine every day and put about 18-20k per year on it (about the same as you). We take mine on camping trips and other jaunts. We also have a 1983 Elky we don't drive much (the wife drives it back and forth to find books and go to Karaoke)...she puts about 3-4k per year on hers Kelly C. RE: [Chevelle-List] New Member w/70 El Camino
In that case here goesmine is a very nice 350 based '70 Elky. It's got/had factory air and everything is there except the compressor. Are there any good websites or books on how to restore an air conditioner system for these things ? It's pretty hot in the truck during the summer as it doesn't have the cool kick panel vents that my '73 Nova has. I have a lot more Elky specific restoration questions, but this one is at the top of my list right now. tnx, John -Original Message-From: Kelly C.
