Nope Larry,

I grew up in Oregon though.
What did the one you're thinking of go for up north? Do you remember?

[Chevelle-List] for sale?

2002-06-08 Thread anomaly7
Yikes, what a month. My stereo amp dies, for the fourth time this year. It's basically unfixable. Had it 25 years, but time to buy a new one. A couple to a few thousand dollars are needed for some nice McIntosh equipment.
Wife's car needs servicing. $400.00 bill for that. Wife is very reluctant to let me work on her car for anything other than minor stuff as she thinks I work too much as it is.(?)
My C4 starts running roughly, but no engine codes appear. The dealer says they can fix it for $1800.00. They're saying it could be the opti spark plug wires and plugs. I'd like them to fix it under the 7 year/70k miles emissions warranty, but the car was sold originally in Texas. I have to wait until at least Monday to work this one out. Not gonna pay 18 hundred to the dealer, but whatever it is is gonna be more money.
And the wife is planning our Caribbean vacation for August. Several thousand dollars more out the door.
Then the el Camino's tranny still needs reworking.
So, I'm thinking of selling it. Don't want to, but I don't see having any extra cash soon, and it would be nice to have a reliable (inexpensive) truck.
So what's it worth?
1969 SS el Camino. 427 motor, power steering, no AC but it does have the dash outlets. New paint, will supply pics if needed for your guess. Good frame, no rust, all straight.
Rally wheels with a little rust, and a little rust on the bumpers front and rear. Front discs,; cloth bucket seats; rear window tint. 12 bolt rear end; 4 speed manual close ratio that pops out of 4th gear; clutch seems okay. 850 holley carb, probably could use a rebuild, but adjusts okay frequently. headers with the air injector pipe on top. Good headliner, carpet fair, needs a radio too. door panels okay.
The car is in Walnut Creek, California.
Any ideas?
Thanks guys
David

Not that it matters much. Most of the stuff that is made in the USA is not necessarily of a better quality. It hurts to say that, but its true. Take it easy.

We should all be thankful that the Japanese (and other countries) give Detroit some competition. Otherwise, history shows we'd be driving limited technology vehicles that were overpriced with limited options. The Big three are big business. Big business is not always bad, but without competition, you can be sure it's not always good.

I too want to chime in as a satisfied customer of John Nastas and the oldcarnetwork. Two orders and two very satisfactory deliveries without the inflated shipping costs of the big parts houses.
Thanks again John.

Re: [Chevelle-List] Richmond 6 speed?

2002-04-04 Thread anomaly7
Michael,
I was compairing the Tremek 5sp to the Richmond 6sp. I thought the Tremek was around $2100. and the Richmond 6sp around $1300.
Are those figures about right?
David

In a message dated 4/4/2002 2:31:15 PM Pacific Standard Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes:

BTW:  I would disagree that the Tremec is more money.
If you're interested in an apples-to-apples comparison between the Richmond 5 and the Tremec 5, check this out:
http://www.tremectransmissions.com/5sp_comparison.html Although I would admit, the Tremec is more work. Your choice depends on what you really want.  A true overdrive?  or an additional lower gear?
Close gearing? or wider gearing?
Do you want to keep your existing rear gears? or are you willing to swap?
etc. The Tremec doesn't require tunnel "surgery" on the '69 (even auto trans tunnel), but you'll have to lower the rear of the trans by 3/8".   This can be accomplished by a cross member modification, or a rear trans mount modification. If you're still interested in the Tremec, I can offer list members a 5% discount.  That's about $100 savings on a TKO.

[Chevelle-List] best fit headers for '69 BB

2002-04-04 Thread anomaly7
It's about time for me to replace the headers in my '69 el Camino with a BB. What does anyone recommend for an easy fit with good performance? Okay, maybe easy fit is not the correct phrase, how about easier fit.

Thanks Guys,
Great to have you back!

[Chevelle-List] Richmond 6 speed?

2002-04-04 Thread anomaly7
Does anyone know if the Richmond 6 speed is a straight bolt in for a 69 chevelle/elky as a swap for the current 4 speed I've got.
I'd like to do the Tremeck 5 speed, but it's more money and more work to install, from what I remember hearing. So is my memory correct, is the Richmond 6 speed an easy placement?
As Herb's got one in his '66 I'm assuming they'll stand up to a BB motor, yes?
Thanks guys,
