2002-08-26 Thread Rob

THANK YOU John,
I find it hard ta beleive that I've overlooked this all these years,
being such a "hard-core" '70 fan, but now that you have put it in front of
me, I see it BIG as daylight. d:-)

RE: [Chevelle-List] 1970 Chevelle / El Camino front fender differences

2002-08-26 Thread John Nasta

Thanks Dave. I knew they were longer behind the tire on the ECs but never
knew why the headlight doors were also different. Will have to pay close
attention at the next Chevelle show.

John, there is a body line on the Chevelle that the EC and Wagon don't have
It extends from the front fender into the door. If you look at a Chevelle
and EC side-by-side, you'll see it immediately. (start at the door and look
forward) My EC is a '72 and I found out about this while trying to get the
turn signal lenses. They *are* different. I believe the Chevelle headlight
buckets/fenders have a slight "bow-out" compared to the Wagon/EC headlight
buckets/fenders.

I have a 1970-72 Chevelle fender lower patch panel here, and I see that
there is a separate listing to fit 1968-72 El Camino *and* 1968-69 Chevelle.
I have a 69 El Camino, and I can see that the fenders on my car are shorter
behind the tire than the 70-72 Chevelle. So, apparently there is some
difference in the length of the fender behind the tire as well as a
difference up front around the headlights. Does anybody know what the
difference is in the headlight area?
