RE: [Chevelle-List] Exhaust Hanger Question
Thanks Wayne and Tom for the reply. I didn't think the extra hanger was necessary, but wanted some confirmation from those who have done this before. I have used two methods of securing the collector extension to the H pipe. One cut to length and fit. tac weld and remove and then weld solid, and the other, the full circle stainless steel BAND CLAMPS... The Hedman instructions say you should have an exhaust hanger near the header collector. The American Thunder exhaust doesn't come with a hanger in that location, and my old header system didn't have a hanger there either. Should I mount new hangers near the header collectors? If so, should they go on the transmission cross member? Tom Tomlinson '71 Malibu
Re: [Chevelle-List] Exhaust Hanger Question
I have an American Thunder system on my 70 big block and do not have hangers up by the collectors. I reccomend to weld all the joints just for appearance sake. I have the hangers in the stock locations. You do not have to worry about the exhaust or mufflers hanging down or turning because it is an H-Pipe. Tom
