All of the rest of the motors could be had in non SS vehicles. In 72 the 454 was ONLY available in an SS. rick - To Unsubscribe please visit www.chevelles.net/list.html To start a new topic, send mail to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
RE: [Chevelle-List] SS 454 vs. SS
I'd say either a screw up at the factory, someone's replaced a fender and not the emblem or one's not really a factory 454 car. The SS could be had with either a 402, 350-4,350-2 or a 454 in 71. The SS-454 was a different order code and got the 454 emblem as well. Goes back to gotta get the build sheet to prove the engine - even the SS from 69 on. Check http://www.chevelles.com/shop/ss_ident.html#71for full details. My question is what is the differance between a car withSS over 454 on the front fender, and one that just has SS on the front fender.. both cars are orginal 454 cars. Thanks Donnie
Re: [Chevelle-List] SS 454 vs SS
I Really cant believe we're going to get into another Pis_ing Match about the 71-72 Engine Option's..AGAIN? Both aren't original 454 cars SS wo had 350 My "Mighty" 2 Barrel 350ci Steed.. came equipped right behind a LS5 on the production line.I was at Fisher Body, Kansas City Missouri and watched the Chevelle roll off the line. (Quite the excitement for a 12 year old!) Johnnie

I reiterate..."The SS could be had with either a 402, 350-4,350-2 or a 454 in 71. The SS-454 was a different order code and got the 454 emblem as well." Just curious how you can tell "both" aren't original 454 cars from the description given?
