RE: [Chevelle-List] Surprise from Year One

2002-11-19 Thread Craig A. Ellis
I'd have to agree to the extent that I depend on this list to steer me
away from poor quality parts, lame suppliers, and high shipping costs
for common items. I read the complaints. And, frankly, my complaint
about Gateway (for example) is very valid. I would not buy from them
again and believe that it is justified to warn others about their
"culture" (or lack thereof). Just MHO.

Sorry Doug.
I was under the impression that this list was meant for discussing all
things Automobile related, with an emphasis on Chevelles. Complaining,
last I heard, was a valid form of displaying ones displeasure with a
particular issue. Also, I don't recall anyone, at anytime, telling
someone else who they could and couldn't purchase items from.
Also, couldn't your statement be considered complaining, which would
mean you're "real tired" of yourself??
My opinion, and I;me sticking with it

I've ordered from Year One in the past and the shipping didn't seem an
inordinate amount. Have they changed their handling charges?

Just remember also that you want these companies to be able to stay in
business. If that means a small handling charge, then I am willing to
pay it.

I love having things as cheap as possible as the next guy, but I also
recognize that you can only go so low before the company gets into
trouble. Look at AMD. Instead of making a good product that could
compete with Intel they made a less expensive product and got into a
price war. Now they are laying off people.

If it means Year One staying in business, keep on charging that fee.
Competition and choice is a good thing.

But,  think it's important to share all

Thanks for the compliments.  I'm in the process of rebuilding my site,
it's just taking a long time because I'm so lazy!  I think it's going to be
pretty cool when I'm done, nothing fancy, but it will have more of my toys and
some other things I find interesting (all car related).

What year Elky are you looking for?  What shape, engine, etc?

Anyways, welcome back.

finally checked out your website. Nice site and awesome car! I just can't get El

Besides,I've missed all you guys on the Chevelle

I paid for shipping to them - total cost was $100 (includes buying a box
and wood to make a palette) for a 120lb box that went out on Monday and arrived
on Wednesday.  Richmond covered the repairs, including the damage by UPS,
and shipping back to me (it should be here by Wed or Thurs).

Re: [Chevelle-List] Surprise from Year One

2002-11-16 Thread Herbert Lumpp
> herb, is this how you broke the tranny??
>

No, actually since day one it hasn't shifted smooth from 1st to 2nd and it
would "grind" from 5th to 6th unless you paused between the two. During my
first run on the track at Bristol, I tried to shift into 2nd and it wouldn't
go. I probably tried four or five times until I finally gave up and shifted
to 3rd, by that time I was half way down the track. The following two runs
weren't as dramatic, I was having fuel flow problems but I think I've fixed
that.

Anyway. I spoke to Richmond and they were more than willing to take a look
at the 6 speed so I shipped it back to them.

To make a long story a little shorter, I spoke to Richmond again yesterday
and they said it shifts perfectly after they replaced all the synchros and
sliders (they have a dyno of sorts with a clutch and a water brake to load
the trans so they can shift through the gears as if it's in a car). Whether
my tranny works "perfect" or not, all I can say is Richmond is a fantastic
company that stands behind their products.

I guess I should give UPS special thanks for manhandling my box and breaking
the tailshaft housing during shipping. Oh wait, that special thanks should
go to Richmond because they replaced it for me free of charge (along with
the other work they did)!

Year One sitting there.  Naturally the first thing my wife says is "Now
what did you order?"  "Nothing honey, I swear, what is it?" I
reply.

Apparently, while at the Bristol Bash I won second place in the Muscle

Either way, Year One sent me a gift certificate for $100 and a cool

I don't think "fast" is the right word, how does 22, 16, and 15 seconds
grab ya?

The first run was a trans problem along with being too excited in first
gear (lotsa wheel spin).

The next two runs were fuel flow problems and more wheel spin off the
line.

How I won second place is beyond me!
